I must warn you that this thread could get bizarre. There have been times in my playing of almost 45 years of playing, and this is normally a quiet internal subject for me, that I have been in situations and matches, that were more than just playing an opponent, it has become a good vs. evil situation.

This is hard to describe, but at a few instances in situations, I have had indicators that told me the Devil was present, or a defining moment with some other player opponent that they were not on the 'good' side, and the struggle of playing or defeating them became something much more than simply playing a match. Sometimes it develops into an ongoing struggle, only recognized down the road, often seduced upfront, as evil often comes into your life. If it ever happens to you, believe me, the impact of it is very disturbing, and you are very aware of the nature of it before it is over.

I know this subject is a little far out there for most people, but I was wondering if other players had experienced this before.

lol funny gerry, but hey man go to coast to coast .com and tell ure story there ull prob get more feedback, but i think ure right evil is evrywhere and ive heard a bunch of stories ranging from satan walking in to a danceroom and then he was dancing when peop discovered he had not feet just a chikenfoot and a goats foot then he ran and disapeared leaving the place smelling like sulfur .man id hate to be playing a tourn there lol

Oh yea, I have seen what you are talking about. There is no denying when evil is in your presence. Some folks just reek of evil and the treachery is down right scary.

Do you carry official blessed chalk in your cue case like I do? lol

p.s. the first break shot this morning, the '6' Ball rolled up in front of the cue ball at the very last moment. it was all i could do to keep from tossing the cue. i muttered out loud, "Well, Another Day Of This Crap"

"Evil" or "Welcome to the Twilight Zone"

Guess you have to have been there for this to be taken seriously.

There have been a few times when I was aware I was in the presence of evil of a level not reachable by anything resembling a normal human being. Fortunately it hasn't happened in many years but I do believe that a tangible evil exists. Sounds insane but I would prefer to be thought insane and be alive than to be dead. I do think sensing evil saved my life a couple of times without always being aware of exactly where it was coming from, just knowing it was in the area.

This all sounds Twilight Zone but even when I was wild and crazy I showed a little discretion when this feeling took hold of me. Definitely saved me at least a bad beating by a mob the first time I felt it at seventeen. I could have easily died in that little safari. The feeling of evil came over me hours before there was any sign of trouble. Despite being in a place I visited almost nightly and that was only a few miles from home, I prepared for a major war without knowing why other than the feeling that evil was present. When the poop hit the fan for no apparent reason I was prepared both mentally and physically. Had I been a little older and wiser I wouldn't have been as skeptical of the feeling and I would have just left.

The feeling of being in the presence of evil is extremely rare for me. When I get it, I pay attention. I have to admit that if I were playing pool with what I thought was the source of the evil I would break it off as soon as possible and leave. You might win the game or match and lose a war you didn't even know you were in.

My advice to the skeptics: If you ever get this feeling of evil, remember this thread you laughed at and run like a rabbit. There are times when he who runs away lives to fight another day.

You have to practice push-outs and safeties. A break and run scores no more points, than a multi-inning win.

Do yourself a favor, look for the upside of every situation. In that break, that you mentioned, besides the six rolling up on the cue ball, how many things went right with it? You did not jump the cue ball off of the table. You did not miscue and give your opponent, even if imaginary, ball in hand.

Believe it or not, every single one of us get bad rolls. It is how you look at these situations, that determines if you will overcome them.

If anyone really doubts the existance of TRUE evil just get a look at some of the old interviews of Charles Manson, Berkowitz, Damhler, Hitler, Stalin and a host of others. Can't claim to know the exact origin of their evil, but the Devil sounds like a pretty good guess!

That's a good one, Tracy.

If we complain all the time, why should the luck change?

Is there a thing called luck?

God helps those who helps themselves.
If we keep seeing and searching negative things everywhere, and even counting them, that's destructive, not constructive.

We should count our blessings, and even in difficult situations allways look for the lesson of that incident. Then we'll start to find the difficult incidents as blessings also, and the difference it does in our lives is huge.

It's a matter of Spirit we have in our hearts and in our attitudes..

Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they're yours.

Sounds like some of you have played my ex-wife in pool. You know her.....horns, dressed in red, kill you with one look.

Yep and still laughing like hell everytime I miss a ball and taking credit for it.

I played him before, more than once. After swindling me out of thousands, he says "i cant spot you the 7 and you cant win with the 8." It's ok though, What goes around comes around and he's getting his.

In almost 45 years of telling stories you've never realized that pool is a hell of a game ? It's hard to believe, but who knows <shrug> .

I think that you feel like the most negative person on earth, and I'd be very very close !

I was a public defender for many years and I remember when I moved to the felony division it was really noticeable how the clientele changed. In misdemeanor court, the defendants were mostly normal folks who screwed up. In felony court, the clients were a totally different breed and some of them, you are right, had an evil presence about them that was a bit scary. I cant say I have ever felt any supernatural level of evil, although I am a firm believer in intuition and following your senses when you hear alarm bells going off in your head that something is not right. In many of the violent crimes I worked as a defense attorney, the victim in the case often described having very unsettling feelings just before the crime took place.
