Wow stirred up a hornet's nest. Never meant to knock the Delta 13 Rack as it is the absolute best I have found and I usuallly get every new toy that comes out. The only object to my post was the juvinile behavior of my friends when given a new toy to play with (hey I live in Texas) Was meant to be funny not mean or criticule in any way. I fully endorse the rack abet with the sound muffling addition if being used in a public setting. Apologys to the good people at Delta 13--- (sent pm) as well.

I think you accidentally did them a favor and are giving them a chance to make or break their image with their customer service/response. I really like the rack but the noise has to be addressed and not as an option. If they are good people and many have said that they are they won't hold you responsible for opening a can of worms. This can make them better...period.

OK- I've been watching these threads. I am not familiar with the product, but what kind of noise could racking make?

It's something like ringing a bell. It's louder than wooden racks but a lot of it is it's a different sound than the wooden ones we have been hearing for years. Johnnyt
PS:Outside loud chimes would be a better reply now that I heard mine again.

The rack works well and Delta-13 does a lot for tours and tournaments. Johnnyt

No apologies are necessary. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and it seemed like an appropriate time to talk about the many features of the Delta-13. Relative to public areas and tournament play, the "bell-like" sound calls attention to the table that has a new game starting. Thank you for all the positive support.

The Delta-13 line can be found on our web site at www.delta-13.com. You will see many options, especially for the Delta-13 Elite. This week, we just
announced as the Official Rack of the WPBA. It's a hot pink rack with their logo engraved and 10% of all our sales are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

We have many distributors, including Seyberts Billiard Supply, PoolDawg, and Billiards.com. Just this week we signed Ozone Billiards. You will see our entire line of aluminum billiard accessories in their store, very soon.

I hope this helps.

What you call a "bell-like sound" is what most other people would call noise. The Delta-13 is a outstanding rack but let's face it, it makes a racket when racking the balls.

As a design enhancement, it's time for your company to LISTEN to your customer complaints and sell these racks with the sound muffled as much as possible.

I didn't see the different between this rack (other than noise) and a good wood rack.

My opinion of it - looks great, too loud, racks the same as a good plastic or wood rack. Delt 13 sponsor events not the wood or plastic rack so it is a better choice when buying!

I already have a Delta-13 rack, is there some place I can buy the "quieting" insert for it?

For you and anyone else that wants to quiet down the Delta-13 Elite rack.

Check out the inserts in the thread HERE Email John and tell him what you want he will get them to you ASAP. at the bottom of the thread you will see John's email.

I didn't want to spend the extra $ on them since Delta 13 sells some also. But IMO I made the right choice. Later tonight I will try to get a short video of the balls being racked with the new inserts installed. Now the rack sounds more like a heavy plastic rack or a wood rack.

I got Number 3 so I can change the look if I wanted to.

These inserts are very well made I paid for a set on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and got them in the mail Friday. WOW talk about fast.

I do honestly feel like the rep from Delta-3 is dodging the issue. His posts don't really admit it's a problem, they just talk up the positive features and use this thread strictly for advertising. I get the feeling he's talking at us rather than with us.

Instead of hyping up stuff like the engraving and giving us the "it's a small price to pay for a perfect rack" routine... why not just play it straight? "We're aware of the complaints and we've come out with some inserts to address the problem" ...better yet, see if the person in charge of the company is willing to sell the racks with the inserts built in. It seems ridiculous to sell these things for 20 bucks *not installed* AND they have to be cut down to fit.

Is there any downside to the inserts?

I'm with you....can't beat them. So much nicer than the cheaper, poorly made 'factory' inserts. And no glue, or tape to make a mess.

It's a quality product, and it WORKS.

Looking forward to seeing the video.....

I have a customized Delta-13 Elite rack that I keep in my car and take into the pool hall with my Super Aramith Pros when I go to practice. Yes, I'm an equipment snob. I can't help it.

Truthfully, the 'noise' that the rack makes against the balls is a unique sound that, until you've used the rack, is rarely heard. It's the sound of phenolic against aluminum. Yes, in a silent basement poolroom it can be ear piercing, but in a loud, already-noisy poolroom, you hardly notice it.

For those sensitive ears, there are now leather inserts for sale for $11.95.
For the Delta-13 Elite
For the Delta-13 one-piece

OK the video is up... I removed my inserts so that everyone can hear the sound of the rack with and without the inserts.

Sorry guys it's not a PRO video but it gets the point across on the sound.

Delta 13

I own the regular Delta 13 rack, not the elite. Do they make inserts for them? I do notice the sound at home but, in local pool hall I really don't notice the sound at all. Our pool hall has about 30 tables and they all have the delta racks.
Thanks
Jan

Delta has some but they are pretty much plain jane and not as thick as these are. Email John Maybe he can start making them for the standard rack also. I dunno
