Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Theo had the nuts from there and chopped it for no apparent reason.

The chop guaranteed them all $69 but if they would have chopped 4th they would have lost $11 and the chop would have been $58/person. No offense but no one thinks a girl can win so it got pretty chilly in there.

Sorry I left without saying bye. It was the only way for me to leave. You know how I feel about listening to everyone's war stories and all the guts and glory!

I agree that they didn't think she would win, or just any girl for that matter. Well just have to show them! I think it's pretty strong of Mel for placing as high. I missed the yelling somehow, probably bartending... i wish i didn't have to forfit - i felt like i had a good draw. But it wasn't fair to try and work and play. This saturday i plan on being in full force!

Oh for sure Mel played good to get there. I only won one. I probably made about 80% or more of the balls in all my matches, I couldn't get out. When I did I scratched. I lost both matches hill-hill and I lost 6 games after making the ten ball which is gross. I did it once and then it avalanched out of control. Can we say tilt?

Still a fun tourney minus the war stories of course. I'll attempt to play better next time so I can CHOP it haha!

So top 4 were Theo, Ronnie, Troy, and Mel...$10 bounty on eliminating them next week I say!!

Maybe they should consider moving the Ankeny tournament up two hours and starting the 10-ball an hour earlier once we start getting a bigger field. No need to do it now, but if we start getting 30 players we may run in to some time issues. I suppose you could shorten the race too.

All in all it was fun minus the "doubters" at the end. It might've been my day to take them all down if they didn't all gang up on me at the end about how I should just let them chop so they could leave. My message to all is please don't sabatoge someone elses match for your own self interest. We are all there to have fun and play a friendly competition. I say, let it play out!

I would like to know how many rooms host a weekly tourny that's drawing in excess of 100 players, both pro and am, and has a 10 ball break and run that now exceed $1,000 per ball. :thumbup:

Gate City Country Billiard Club in Greensboro NC currently has such a tourny. Held on Wednesday @ 7:30pm. Hncp index 9-2, race to 4, single elimination, $15.00 entry fee. A 10 ball break and run is currently at $1,000 a ball and until the pot is busted, is paying $400 on a ball on the break. Plus $400 for your ticket to be picked. But hold on to your cue,:wink: they also have a second B&R that I think is paying around $850 per ball. But with no money for ticket drawn or balls on the break.

Is this an abnormality or do any of you fellow AZers have such tourny in your neck of the woods?

I just wanted to show this post to some of you. This is what a dollar a raffle ticket can do. People stone go off buying tickets when the pot builds up. ALL tournaments in NC I played in had big break and run pots that paid out like that and yes its buy the ball. Another reason why weekly tourneys there get closed off an hour before they start and here we struggle to get $20. There are guys that ass rape the tourneys there too, the difference is everyone has a shot at a big pay day at any given time.

Something to consider for you tourney runners out there.I couldn't see a ticket and I was putting in $50 of my own to get it started, very sad. How many people would play one hole on saturdays if the break and run pot paid over a $100 a ball on a ten ball run out plus a bonus $100 just for getting your ticket pulled.

You make a good point Mikey. They could even be doing a one pocket break and run like you are talking about where you get paid per ball. Call the pocket before the break and then shoot from where it ends up. It's not as easy at it sounds either.

Sigh...I got 170th out of 6650+ people or $60 and the entry into the bigger one. Lost a coin flip of 10s vs AK with me having 10s and then the blinds were too big so it was adios after that. Still not too bad for a free roll. I only have to beat probably 19,999 people to win the lambo lol.
