US Open 08/18-23

i am really rooting for Duong Quoc Hoang. I think he got almost Efren kind of master all aspects of game. Good attitude too!

yes i've been saying this for a long time. he kicks like a monster (makes sense since vietnam was 3C territory when he grew up), banks well, jumps great, and has a very measured "two stroke" cue action. his safety play isn't bad but i assume what's missing is percentage play, opting for attack too much. idk

I will be tuned in to KPY vs shaw, terminator vs albin for the 1st slate

Some may consider that an advantage. Myself, I don’t think players get any great benefit from a “day of rest”. Some might, but 9 ball is not exactly a strenuous activity and many benefit more by being in stroke later in the week from just continuing to play.
Maybe. I heard several mentions of how exhausted some of the players were after playing the Florida Open, BotB, and then straight to the Open. Certainly looks like Sky was pretty exhausted during his first loss.

Niels sometimes seems like he’s 7 feet tall and 300 pounds of chiseled muscle. Love seeing him at his best. Not sure he’s always gotten credit for being the great player he is. Amazing what he does with 100% of one eye and just 10% of the other due to a genetic defect.

Chua has been pure dynamite too, but his safety play just cost him a rack.

Seeing vintage Ko too, and Shaw losing his composure. Again.

I've always been impressed by how he gets down on the shot, even difficult ones, and pulls them off with only a couple practice strokes. He must have supreme confidence in his alignment. Even Filler or Shaw take a few more strokes on those power shots.
