US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

you can tell he plays a lot for this to be an issue. i think they also mentioned pecelj's thumb bleeding. hard working players.
Occupational hazards. 😌

Keith McCready told me that he used to always have calluses on his hands from playing hours and hours on end.

Does anyone have a finishing position list? I don't see anything on the MR site. The bracket even seems completely gone from their site now. It was fine yesterday. Thanks.

If it was the late 1-ball and he decided to push, I was sitting next to the table, and I said (to anyone that might be listening), that there was no way he was shooting at the 1-ball. I think he just didn’t catch the best rolls when Little Ko was leaving him a table.

Fedor didn't shoot the one, crucial as discussed on the broadcast

for me, this confirms that last single bit lacking in his game over the last while, saw it in Michigan too and before that even

still maybe the best player on earth

Do you think he didn’t feel confident in the moment? Or did the shot seem very difficult from your angle?

It for sure was difficult. I don’t think he shoots the shot at 0-0. Given the circumstances, I think he showed good discipline by not taking on that 1-ball.

There were three or four shots down the stretch that viewers may have thought that Fedor was unraveling. From my vantage point, Ko really got a few good-enough rolls 5 or so times where Fedor could have used a better break. That doesn’t take away how magnificent Ko played. Fedor just needed some cherry rolls a few times to make it closer than it was. He didn’t get them. Like when Ko missed the kick shot and went around the table to get the hit. Instead of BIH, Fedor was left with funny position on an iffy out.

I keep being frustrated when they fail to catch the important part of the shot/situation. Multiple failures. Also, when they have a replay it is often cut off short or the next shot is cut off. I have not noticed this in other Matchroom broadcasts so I'm guessing they have a new production company for this event. They need a different director.
I noticed the same. Sometimes the camera view didn't show the situation. (And none of the changed views did either). It also felt they used too many graphics when cutting between cameras, and that took a lot of time away from the live situation. I always felt live sports broadcasts should have simple and clean/fast camera cuts.

I did feel even with those issues, Joe Public would never have known.

What was Gorst putting on his chin & glove?
Chalk?
Powder?

Still on PRP website.
These brackets will be replaced soon with next event brackets soon. PRP doesn't bother to keep archive of old events results unlike the professional score keeping sites like cuescore , digitalpool

Thanks. I was getting to those brackets all week directly from the Matchroom main site, then clicking on Tournaments/US open, and they were there. Now they are gone from there.

Ko won 21 of 27 games today.
Hard to beat.
IMO even more impressive was how he finished his last 4 matches and who he did it against. 5 straight vs. Filler at 5-5, 4 straight vs. Lechner at 6-6, 10 straight vs. Yapp from the git-go, and then 10 straight vs. Gorst at 3-6. Simply unbelievable. It reminded me of that spectacular comeback he made against SVB in the 2018 U. S. Open, which is the first time I really remember him.

I think you are remembering the 2018 International (no US Open 9-Ball in 2018). Shane was ahead 10-6, scratched on his break in Game 17, and Ko ran out the match 11-10 (his only lead in the match).

[the Ko/Yapp match was 11 games straight]

I wonder if the players having to wait 2 weeks to get paid has anything to do with it
