I was watching the Accu-stats pay per view of the US Open on Friday night.
After the Immonen / Archer match Behrman made a speech about how he was retiring from running
his pool room to promote big time pool tournaments with ?major sponsors?.

During his speech he casually made two particularly vile anti-Semitic comments.
The first was that his price for his room was firm at 2.7 mil and he won?t let anyone ?Jew me down?.
Later he describe that his landlord charged him a reasonable rent because ?he is not a Jew?.

And this is a man who wants to promote pool.
No reputable major sponsor will touch him after this display of ignorant prejudice.
He needs to be run out of pool for the good of the game.

I was watching and was also surprised. If he is in fact Jewish does that make a difference in how you react to his statements?
I was suprised that he didn't realize the reaction people will have to what he said.

I try not to judge people too harshly and my opinion of him is only changed in that he was clearly not aware of how others are impacted by his words. I think he is probably a good man who made a mistake.

Behrman is a Jewish name, at least I'm laying 5 to 1 it is...

He's a strange little creature. Wears bahama style clothes and walks (peculiarly) around holding his little (and I mean teeney) pooch. Interesting fella.

It is not in doubt that he is Jewish. No doubt he isnt and never has been the Great Communicator either. He means well I feel.

perhaps he converted to Judaism just for the jokes?;)

Like Jerry Seinfeld's dentist. I think he is just a bit insensitive and socially awkward. However, I am sure he means well and is truly working from his heart.

He is definitely a character, I'll tell you that. That's the way he talks. You want to run the guy out of pool? Listen my friend, the US Open is his party. One week of the best players in the world for 33 years. I guarantee you that he has been floating on a cloud all week.
You obviously haven't spent a lot of time around a couple of Jews. My aunt married one. Benard Applebaum. Best dam uncle you could ask for. He would travel 200 miles to put a starter on your car when it broke down at the beach. He brought the starter with him too! The only one who would come get you out of jail for using somebody elses draft card back in 1967. You should have heard him talk about Jews. It ain't nothing but a thing man. Don't hold it against him.
Peace, Purdman

barry is in fact jewish and makes jokes all in good fun... seems like these days anything anyone says is offensive to at least one other person. if you can make jokes about anyone, can't it at least be yourself? haha

Pretty bad

This post is pretty bad. What little we have left in pool and you have to bash people who have had success providing professional tournaments. Oh yah that will get everyone somewhere.

Barry is Jewish. He wears a star of david as a necklace. If he was jewing it up in conversation, that's why. He's a good guy - he was being funny about it. It's his schtick. One thing about Barry, he's had a successful tournament for a long, long time. Unlike the WPA and IPT, he doesn't shtoop the pool players.

I don't know about Mika Spidey, I heard he had something to say...

Meh....You know how it is....the only group of people you are allowed to make fun of are bald white guys.:)

He is probably an Anti-Dentite also....

rick; make him look more jewish and get 10-1

Will you give 6-1?

Wait; how? Met him at Mosconi Cup and has done a lot for pool after his personal issues of a few years ago; I judge by actions not yapping

Jewish traitors

Peace, Purdman

If he is Jewish & suffers issues of self hatred he should see a shrink. Such behavior is also reminiscent of Jews in the Warsaw ghetto & in the camps who were informants & worse. Many of them paid the price, because all Jews do not conform to the images portrayed by Woody Allen & Jack Benny.

Purdman You appear to be a gentle soul & for that I commend you. But your statement "It ain't nothing but a thing man" does not compute for me & certainly does not bring a "smile" to my face.
