Heard Johnny Archer's check bounced, and a few others .

Last year Shane Van Boening didnt get paid his money until April 2008, though he won in Sept 2007.

Anyone else heard any news like this?

In both US Open I played in, I cashed. One for $2500 and the other for $750. I was able to collect the $$$ in cash, on site, the same day.

They did tell me that there were going to withhold tax $$$ on the higher amounts; however never mentioned paying by check.

Must have been too busy making signs (NO BABIES OR CHILDREN UNDER 6), instead of counting the money too pay the players.

you said it first, I have known this for along time-I just wasnt going to say anything. JA check didnt bounce it took one extra day to cash it-he IS paid.

however Barry has AWALYS made good on everything in the past and I believe he will now, he just has his way of doing things. He is good with me.

One Moment Please

In 2006 I received 2 checks for $6,000. I was asked to wait a week to cash the first one and two weeks to cash the second one. They both cleared. The reason given to me was that they were payed by check and everything needed to clear. Worked for me and I hope this works for all the players. We will know soon enough.

Some people are awfully quick to condem when they have nothing vested. JMHO

I had a vested interest in it. The player I backed got paid and sent me my money in less than a week after the Open. I'm just saying if indeed if this is true the players and any backers or potential backer should be aware of it. Johnnyt

Seems to me that if you backed a player and he got paid, that is what you should have posted. The players, vendors, and a lot of the people attending the Open, pay with a check, many from out of state. No huricane, no 9/11 attacks, not to worry. No problem Johhnyt.

When Shane won last year, there was no major incidents as you have mentioned. can anyone explain why Shane was paid 7 months afterwards?

Just like to understand the factors in why /when players get paid on time and not.

The bottom line is if you hold a event have the money secured or dont have the tournament. It is bs plain and simple for any players, td's or any staff to have to wait to get paid. This is starting to become sop and it needs to stop. And yes I know in the past all players have gotten there money. That still does not excuse the fact of the delay. KT did it and was flamed rightfully, and so should all others that do not pay at the end of the event period. Please spare me all of you that try to give these guys a break. This is a bad practice plan and simple!

This is true; however as long as the players keep coming, they'll keep doing this - using the player's dime for their business venture.

I wasn't aware of that fact. I did say time will tell. I agree that everybody should be paid when it is over. I am sure that if he deserves to be roasted, he will here in the "AZB No Spin Zone". That's a good thing in my book. If someone lies, steals, and cheats, I like to know too. JMHO

That's fine, but the real question here is:

Can it happen to the players in the future? Shouldn't they know about this before the tournament starts?

Say that if I get real lucky, win the lottery and can dedicate myself to pool 16 h a day, and when US Open happens next year I win it. Will BB then ask me: Is it ok that you get paid in 2010, in April?

well since the internet seems to expose everything-I bet the checks cash faster in the future, see I have long known about this, its been going on for many many years, I said nothing because It wasnt my biz, I have onlt affirmed what has been saids here today. I could add to it but I wont-noy my biz.

now that its public knowlege because the internet is so powerful it will most likely change things in the future, additionally all the players that are contenders to win this tournment knew about this ahead for time-to them its common knowlege, and probably a handful of us who cant win it know. I didnt hear it from my one friend who can win it, i heard this elsewhere, but i never said anything as ins not my problem, and AGAIN BARRY HAS AWALYS MADE GOOD. All the top guys know each other real good and talk all the time, the internet just exposed whats been common knowlege among a few people. Na harm No foul.
