us open live stream should be free. sell advertising

Pool isnt the ufc. Build an audience and sell advertising.

I think they should pay us to experience their product.

Plus I want a car.

Thanks for the insightful post, I had pool confused with the UFC cause of Rogan.

We shouldn't be paying to try to help the promoters struggling with a low-demand product try to make economic sense of their endeavors. Promoters should come out of pocket, free admission too, and raise the prize funds while they are at it.

Plus I want a pony.

Just sell advertising, the advertisers are lined up to spend money on streams that have audiences of 100s of people. Who wouldn't?

I'm sick of these greedy promoters trying to break even.

Sponsors get free advertising when events are streamed. There logos are everywhere. They don't have to pay streamers to get their info out. The only way for a streamer to get paid is to charge.

The only sponsors for pool are pool related equipment. And we keep dipping into that pool over and over. It is dry. There's no tour to promote. So the only viable option is the individual players to build a following from the ground and convince an outside sponsor of that player's individual contribution to their product. That hasn't happened. Think the Miz (teacher turned pro pool player) story with Miller Lite.
Not the players fault...this wasn't a skill (advertising) necessary when they entered pool. IMO lack of forsight by billiards equipment mfg ind to see the impotance of a pro tour for their continued growth. Instead they live in a past era and accept a small profit for small, yet safe investment. The safe road.

As for ppv. Until we band together and demand absent mfg (like Brunswick) to step up, both in writing and our own investmenting in mfg (like Diamond), we are going to have to pay our own way. Some in BCA reap the rewards w/out investing into the sport.

Respect, Courage, and Commitment! now Free

It's too bad pool isn't the UFC Dana White managed to take whatever the UFC is and make it into a very televised whatever it is.

On a more serious note, I think Patrick at Accu-Pool should pay my entry to the US Open so I can watch the matches up close. It would also be great if I only had to go to 2 games, and I got all the breaks.

 what a great post man! love u for giving my thoughts perfect words! definitely made my day :D

I agree. Although I have little knowledge of product sales and the relationship it has with live streamed demographics. I did, however, stay at a Motel 8, last night.
The motel was right by the Interstate and I didn't get a bit of sleep, and consequently fell asleep at the wheel the next day while driving home.

Better yet, why don't YOU buy the cameras, rights, etc, and stream it free to us. Thanks in advance, Steve

It is tragic that I can watch the dart championship of England or wherever it is on ESPN but not the US Open. I can't believe darts from Europe will draw better than US pool with all of the league and recreational pool players in this country. I looked at my guide and sportscenter is on four times on three different channels in my current view alone (2 hrs). There's also a 5 hour block of bass fishing Sunday one espn2. What the heck did pool do to Disney for them to straight up refuse to have anything to do with it?

Wow... Hadn't yet heard of the "Entitlement Generation"

It is called PPV because that means Pay Per View... hell of a concept

And he busted his ass doing it, he worked hard to bring the UFC into existence. The UFC did not just happen he did it with hard work and lot of money from a couple of wealthy brothers. He almost went broke more than a couple of times doing it and it was no easy thing. I watched something about this once on TV. Alot of people will stop to watch some fighting it might be tougher with pool catching the interest of the non pool playing world.

UFC is what it is...but it definitely took time to get where they are. What they had was a business plan, and a united group of athletes and management to get them there. Pool has nothing close to that...yet (and I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that to happen).

Pool had it's shot a long time ago when it was on ESPN, the pinnacle of the sport, after you fall of there is no coming back.

I blame Poker tours that took it's spot on ESPN.

The only audience left are the pool communities. New players and league players don't know who the pro's are. I was in a very similar situation. I've met Nick Varner and couldn't care. Met Alex Pagulayan (sp) and didn't even flinched except asking him if he was very good.

It wasn't till I came on this site that I got familiar with faces of the game and yet it's still boring to watch. No personalities.

The people I enjoy watching is Efren Reyes and that gets boring. I prefer the Youtube videos of Efren playing outdoors in the Philippines. I find a non-sanctioned street pool playing much more entertaining because of the real life atmosphere.

I'd actually rather just pay and have no irritating ads disrupting my stream.
It's not much money. And if I ever encounter an ad I'll just switch to another tab
or take a break until it's over.
