US Open stream...............

Hmmm, funny that for last 16, they only redraw the remaining 8 from losers side but not all 16
Usually in stage 2 single elimination (after group stage or double eli stage) , redraw all 16 players and seed / rank them 1 to 16 and #1 will play #16, #2 plays #15 and so on .
But here it is partial redraw so sequence of the 8 on winners side remains same as double elimination stage

8 winners get a loser each.

This is how Europe/Eurotour have done tournament from 90´s. Finland too..
Double elimination and winners draw from losers bracket. Normally it is done so that those who played against other on winners qualification can´t play in first round of single elimination.

I like it. So far this thing has been awesome. If you don't like this you don't like pool. MR is killin' it.

I hope its a financial success or at least will be viable for them …. would love to see this get bigger and better every year!

I haven't seen one player have to slide a plastic ball on a string to keep score...all digital scoring, by individual score keepers at each table. The players just have to play. This is by far the most advanced 21st century pool tournament we have ever witnessed.
In the interview with the Matchroom producer, she said they have 32 tables, each with a referee and a score keeper...so to get all those individuals in place and working was a logistical accomplishment in itself.

Also, I realized yesterday while at the gym, the tvs were on espn and they were airing handball or some variant of that sport...this time of year is very slow for sports programming. Baseball just beginning, NBA basketball in playoffs (limited games aired on other networks), college basketball over, football off-season and not even draft yet, golf already held the masters....so it is very possible that Hearn could land ESPN in future U.S. Opens by the sheer size and quality of the production and the timing to where ESPN is looking for content. And that's when the major sponsors and mega payouts come around.

Every part of the tournament seems to have a purpose. This could be the gateway to pool's successful future.

Yep, it’s great. Something I’d like to see in the future: Right now during a break from center table they have a camera on another match. It’s a little dark, and it’s live so it could be just someone standing and thinking or shooting a simple shot. I’d like to see them do what they do in golf, where they follow one group live, but have some cameras on other players, and show replays of interesting shots they catch, with updates on the scores on those tables.

It is very nice for the spectators, but as a player there is no way to know the score. The scorekeepers need to at least have their scorekeeping iPads propped up so that the players can see without having to access it on their phones. It just made it harder to concentrate not knowing if your opponent had 8, 9 games, or was on the hill. I had to walk over to the scorekeeper and ask a couple times.

Some of the scorekeepers did catch on to turning the screens.

A large improvement but also an expense would be to have a large screen facing the table with both the score and the shot clock count down showing.

A minor problem is that there is not one ref per table -- area refs have to handle about four tables each. Since the ref racks, there is sometimes a wait. Maybe the scorekeepers could be trained to rack but they would have to be trained well as some of the players are picky about the racks they get.

It will be. There are players in major sports leagues who make the total prize fund weekly in their basic salary. In the grand scheme of things this is a cheap buy for Matchroom but it is also the kind of event that they are good at selling. I’ll eat my hat if an increased prize fund for 2020 isn’t announced by November 2019. In fact, I think it will be within two months of the final being played this year but I don’t have a hat and would have to swallow my pride instead.

Impressive, too. Nine of the Mosconi ten reaching the last 64 in this star-studded field is rock solid.

and the only one not to make it was MVP-I think we are looking at a new era-one of Euro/Usa parity.

From a streaming spectator standpoint this has been probably my favorite tournament ever. I love how they stack the matches up so there's almost no time between matches on the tv table when one finishes. And I'm a big fan of Karl Boyes commentary. Wych's commentary is a bit tired (I feel like I've heard all of his anecdotes and isms 100 times) and I was disappointed when he and his co-commentator kept saying repeatedly how big of an upset it was for Siming to be beating Mitch (like, how do not know who this lady is if you're a pool aficionado). Other than that, pure aces in every aspect. Very exciting format, insane field, I'm having a blast watching this event. And that's even with all my horses going to the losers side!

Gonna pay the $20 for the rest of it? You get the World Snooker as a bonus. Helluva deal.

It's possible but i can't see it because at the end of the day it's still pool I see nothing that would draw people in other than people that already like the game and some of those streaming numbers Iv seen are pretty dismal, at the end of the day lipstick is all you have here ,,
The MC however for a few reasons like excitement drama and unruly spectators is worthy of a bigger stage much more marketable IMHO

What a week for cue sports. Best 9 Ball tournament of all time so far plus the World Championship in snooker. If ever anyone needed a reason not to pick up a cue and glue themselves to the net/TV then here it is...
