US Open Worst First Round Draw

I've seen Warren play and have played him myself. He's a great player, but compare their rotation resumes on the big table and get back to me. There's no comparison.

No question, Mika has the best record and should be the favorite. But Warren is a 'A' level player, capable of beating anyone. NO ONE has to like drawing him. Warren has three top five finishes (3rd, 4th and 5th) in past U.S. Opens, with stronger fields. He has won major tournaments as well.

I know you love the Pinoys. Let me know if you want to bet on him vs Mika.

A good seeding system should avoid that. I went to the Derby City Classic one time and saw Corey Deul and Alex meet in the first round and then they drew each other again in the second round. I've never liked the chaos of the "buy back" and never went again.

If that's the only reason you never went back to the DCC you are missing the forest for the trees IMO. I agree that I'm not a fan of that either, but it's just kind of the accepted chaos at the Derby and I can overlook things like that because there is so much other cool stuff going on. That's at least from a spectator's point of view.

I think your usage of A player in this context is confusing. Most people consider an A player someone like your speed (in your prime). Warren is a top pro speed (in his prime), same as Mika.

I saw you use this A rating before for what most of us consider top pro's, and I'm curious why you are straying from the traditional use of A player?

Don't they have the playing area roped off? This doesn't make sense to me.

Somebody please share a photo of the tournament room. How on earth could a railbird sit in a competitor's chair? Sheesh!

I was laughing because at the straight pool thing I was at recently, someone actually just TOOK
one of the competitor's chairs, which were clearly different from the spectator seating.
Just before the match. How ghetto is that?

This Sucks Too

I wasn't trying to make a point it was just an observation to anyone who hadn't seen the brackets for the US Open yet. They weren't very lucky in the draw.

James

There's two players from Denver playing ea other First Round. One semi pro the other a good player.
