Value of Cues for Current Cuemakers

what about???

I am shocked that nobody mentioned ernie martinez. I would put his cues up against anyone. I would say andy gilbert and skip weston should be up there along with michael wagner from raven cues and mike johnson from jensen.
But ernie martinez is the way to go ........

Cognoscenti hands down best built cue out.

Mike Bender does well as well.

Most of the cues I see around today are ugly gaudy pieces of garbage with no asthetic value whatsoever (i.e. Gina, Samsara, Schick, and what Stroud and Black have been cooking up for the last 15 years). Some of them may be built well and play fine, but ICK!!!

I'm just curious. What is everyone's opinion on the work of Bob Runde? Personally I love his custom work, and I think his designs have a classic feel, yet remain original and beautifully executed. I personally wonder why his work never reached the popularity of others mentioned on the list, as I think it is equal in terms of workmanship, materials used, and quality. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

his cuesare awsome runde just dont make to many cues but they hitt awsome...

Just out of curiousity.........and if all of the designs were equal.........how would you rate the top ten cuemakers in order? #1. being the easiest to sell for the highest amount. #2 being 2nd and so on. I guess what I am looking for is which cues have the highest values (not necessarily the best playing). I am only interested in your opinion in current cuemakers not those of the past.

Thanks!
Anthony

The question is, How would I rate the top ten cuemakers(this is not a list of who is the best cuemaker(s) but on value and resale in order in: being "Easiest" to sell and for the "HIGHEST" amount?

1)Dennis Searing
2)Barry Szamboti
3)Joel Hercek
4)John Showman
5)South West
6)Pete Tascarella
7)Tad-4 point & 8 point cues
8)Bob Manzino- over $ 3,000.00.
9)Ernie Guiterrez - over $ 4,500.00
10)Black Boar
As far as I know these are the only current cuemakers that when you buy a new cue from them the cue is worth more than what you paid for it and if you were to put it up for sale on the open market you would make a profit.

And the top 6 you can play with these cues and then still sell them for more than what you paid new. That's a real sweet deal!

????????????

In no particular order:
Szamboti
Searing
Tascarella
Hercek
Mottey
Joss West
Showman
Tad
Schick
Black Boar
This list will be affected by the particular style an individual prefers as you can tell by mine I like classic cues.
Pinocchio

Ron Haley, Cory Barnhart, Jeff Olney, Steve Klein. All are doing beautiful work & still flying relatively under the radar.

My List

1. Barry Szamboti
2. Joel Hercek
3. Richard Chudy
4. Dennis Searing
5. PFD
6. James White
7. Judd Fuller
8. Thomas Wayne
9. Tim Scruggs
10.Perry Weston

Difficult to come up with a list but there is mine. Szamboti and Hercek have to be at the top simply due to demand, waiting list and simply the price of a really basic cue being almost $3000.

I was surprised to see that Searing and Chudy were rarely mentioned.

Personal favor

1. Barry Szamboti
2. DPK
3. Southwest
4. Gina
5. Dennis Searing
6. Joel Hercek
7. Tascarela
8. Dennis Searing
9. Zylr
10.Tad

Only for personal favor in hitting performance, rare, and colletion.;)

I think the best most talented cue maker alive today is Ernie-Ginacue, his work with silver, ivory, difficult woods like snake wood is amazing, he is brilliant, I like how his cues play.

My favorite playing cues are Barry Szam, My favorite cue in my collection is a Barry Szam, I like they play, to me they are the best palying cues,

Tad's cues are a close second to Szam's i like the way they play, and the plain jane classic tad is another favorite of mine.

and SW cues too, play great and have been friends of mine since 86.

All 4 are the top cue makers to me, Szams playing the best and looks too. I love Ernies work and his cues but there is something about Szams that I like just a little bit more, but its close. My most expensive cue is a Ginacue.

honerable mention is Samsara-I have one fancy one and it plays great too,

Sugartree plays great too

something I noticed in recent times more and more cues play better than they did years ago, the gap between cue makers is getting tighter,
