Kevin,

That cue in posts 20, 21, and 22 of this thread plays better than it looks and it looks fine.

I sure wish I had a JB to go with it. ;)

Thank you sir. Yes...playability is #1 with my cues. I feel thats the most important aspect. Your new j/b is going to make an ultra sweet pair.:D

With my choice of parts when building I can pretty much tune it however the customer likes. Just need to know the type hit desired.:)

Very nice group of cue pics Kevin. Can't wait to get mine.

I'M MORE CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, TO A SHAFT, THAT IT BECOMES "PETRIFIED"........ I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO "SCARE" A SHAFT, LET ALONE "PETRIFY" IT........ VARNEY MUST BE GOOD. LOL.

Hehehe, petrified wood is stone that used to be wood. But after its petrified, its just plain stone...

By the way, Mr. Varney, I really grew to admire your work. At first, I tended to kinda overlook it, because of your mostly rather simple designs. But now I came to understand that those are real "players" cues, ment and designed to be played. The overwhelming feedback you get, confirmes that. Great work! Keep it up!
When I'm in the US the next time, I'll look for one to make some test hits.

I UNDERSTAND THE ACTUAL MEANING FOR PETRIFIED, I WAS MAKING A JOKE. BUT NOW YOU HAVE ME CONFUSED...... SO YOUR SAYING THAT SHAFT HE HAS LISTEDS AS "PETRIFIED" IS NOW STONE?

Mr Varney I have a question...

This might be strange but do you ever not want to sell a cue after you build it?

I expect them to be your "little children".

Also, you pooch may be okay, but he will never track a rabbit like a beagle...my favorite pooch. :D

Yes they almost all are that way. My wife often has to pry them out of my hands to box them. I have so many that I wish I could of kept. :)

And my "pooch" can eat your pooch like a rabbit.:D He's getting a little bigger....still not quite 1yr old yet.

Lake wood, submerged lumber, timeless timber, fossil wood, petrified...all the same thing...just many different names.;)

If you can make a shaft out of petrified wood, you ought to have a monument. :D

I have a diamond tipped cutter in my router.:D
Seriously..."petrified" is what my supplier originally called it. She said it had been submerged so long that it was petrified or fossil wood. Hits like a fossil....very dead. Stiff & works well on j/b's but I'm not going to have it on my playing cue.;)

timeless timber is definitely not a "petrified" nor "fossil" wood nor does it play with the characteristics of those descriptions............it actually can be a more consistent and solid playing material if prepared correctly.

Then I never had one that was "prepared" properly:)
