Well, there's a lot of tournament happenings going on, but does anybody have a read on the action?

I heard it through the grapevine that Ronnie Allen beat Richie Rich for a nice chunkie, with Ronnie getting 10 to 6 and the break.

I also heard that a well-known player from Beautiful Dixie was playing the $100 slots and hit four 4-of-a-kinds with the max bet and one royal flush totalling a huge six-figure amount.

Please post up some other action games if anybody knows anything if it is comfortable to do so. :)

My biggest ever slot score was on a Hundred Play video poker machine at Bellagio. I was playing 100 quarters at a time ($25 a pull ) and hit a Royal Flush on four hands (started with A,K,J,T of Hearts). I won a total of over $4,000 on that one hand and cashed out 5K winners. I got a ticket that the machine would not cash! I had to go to the window to get paid.

back in 92 they came out with these machines if you hit a Royal in order 10,J,Q,K,A you got paid huge odds not just $1000 for $1.25 like most regular video poker games were back then(you got paid for a sequencial Royal something like $25,000 on a quarter machine with 5 credits bet), back in 90 they came out with bonus poker, double bounus poker, duces wild. And that was about it. Then came the sequence Royal-then the reversable Royal A,K,Q,J,10 you could hit it either way and get paid big. I think they put it on a progressive system on the $1 machines at the Palace Station in 93 or 94 it paid over $200K with 5 credits played on the $1 machine.

Now days its crazy how many different video poker machines there are. the payout odds are terrible now days. On regular jacks or better regular video poker(kinda hard to find these days) the payout for a boat and a flush is where they change the pay-off that changes the hold for the machine. it used to be 9/6 meaning 45 credits if you hit a full house and 30 if you hit a flush. I was that the Hardrock the other night after seeing Santana(great show). I went over to the VP machine and looked at the pay-off table, many of the machines like in Cue-Topia Marry and Freddys room had progressive jacks or better and they were set at 8/5 you win 40 credits with it it loaded(max bet of 5 credits) and 25 for a flush.

Now days the machines are set to 6/5. That gives the house such a huge edge even with perfect play(which tourists never do) they awalys try and fill gut shot's etc. they are just robbing people. I hear people complaining they get no play for their $$$ in Vegas any more, I see why now. A jacks or better 9/6 Machine with proper play you can last for hours on $100, even a 8/5 machine isnt too bad. keep hitting boats and the occasional 4 of a kind and your in action for a long time. Now with 6/5 machines you lose 2-3 pulls for every boat you hit and that catches up with the player real fast. its a stone cold stick up.

Vegas is getting too greedy and its failing which is causing more cost cuts, its in a downward cycle. I been a student of gambling for years, And Vegas has terminal cancer. So I moved.

Dont play video poker there now days, I bet there are 9/6 machines in reno. reno is paying their players pretty good hopeing to get biz back, Vegas is rapeing people.

Geez Eric. I'm getting ready to go out there and now you're telling me this. I guess when I get there I might as well bend over.

Vegas is okay for a lot of folks. For gambling addicts, it may not be the best place to visit. I'm not a gambling addict, but I don't care for the Vegas atmosphere. Number one, it's really hot, and number two, I don't care for the blatant advertising of women offering sexual favors on every other street corner. It's just not my cup of tea. I'm sure there are many other folks who enjoy it, though.

Sounds like you have good knowledge of the scene in Sin City! Don't play any machines, only horse racing and craps. What's your feel on craps? My last trip I held the dice for 42 min. Bills next to the Flamingo. Went thru 3 stickmen and before it was all over had 3 pit bosses!! LOL. I never believed in setting the dice at first, but being a pool player I learn quick! I need to be next to the stickman, short high throw to my left. I throw 5 & 9 which pay better than 6 & 8. It's called a plan! They lost money big time that morning.

I heard of some guy who had the ability to throw the dice in a certain way that made them land a certain way. I'm not sure how anyone can do it, but anyway, he used to make money doing it, until they caught him on camera doing it. Whatever he was doing, apparently it was against the law. He ended up having to go to court. :o

I'm still hoping to hear about some pool action in Vegas while the events are going on. Maybe there is not much happening. I'll have to put in a call this afternoon to my sources.

I gotta admit, for a country boy in his first visit to Sin City a few years ago, I was amused by the show out on the street. And the playing cards...what a chuckle. (Funny story. An older lady at my bank heard I was going, and told me about those cards, asking me to bring back a handful for a joke gift she needed.)

Where I live, that is just out-of-this world. Stuff you see or hear on TV, not "real". So yes, the sidewalk show was amusing for me. Glad I don't have to live with in that kind of world full time...

The best part of going to Vegas for me was the drive out there. Man, I had the time of my life seeing these United States up front and close. I had no idea how much corn we grow, from Ohio to Iowa. Iowa was gorgeous. Nebraska is one State that never seems to end, but after seeing those baby cows, I felt like I should go vegetarian. Then there's the Rocky Mountains. We stopped in Vail, and I went shopping. Loved that. They had a beautiful golf course there, too. Utah has a lot of red mountains, and I saw my first rain storm from a distance in Arizona. Texas was a little flat, but I did have a blast driving 80 miles an hour on the highways. It felt like I was going 20. LOL

I made it in 4 days from the East Coast to Vegas. If I ever go again, it will be on a non-pool-related trip, so that I can see a few good shows. I would have loved to have seen the Beatles or Cirque du Soleil.

Now I hear they have a Mobster Museum. :shocked2::shocked2:

We went to a pool room there. During the day, it was Deadsville, but at night, it was standing room only, and the patrons were all smoking water pipes. I've never seen anything like it in my life. :embarrassed2:

I think there's too much going on in Vegas to concentrate on pool action. Many pool players today enjoy the table games anyway, especially poker. :p

I can understand and respect this, but like anything else I just keep walking and ignore it.

I mean if I saw someone drinking unleaded and chasing it with a match and blowing fire out their ass, I would just say whatever lights their candle.

That's true, Craig, and I agree. We did ignore it, but it was a little unsettling to be walking arm and arm with my man down the busy sidewalks, only to have these hucksters handing my man flyers of naked women with their phone numbers. Here we are a couple, just minding our own business, being a Vegas tourist, and these guys were promoting prostitution to men who had their wives/girlfriends with them. I mean, the nerve!

Not illegal to set dice. Certain numbers up, to left or right, stacked or flat, doesn't matter. HOWEVER, as you know the casino has the option to shut anyone down at anytime, just like a restaurant refusing service for no reason. As long as the dice hit the backboard they won't say a word. The whole idea of short high throw hitting about six inches from backboard is energy is lost and dice don't fly everywhere. The less they move the more predictable. And yes if I showed up regularly and hurt them they would ask me to move on down the road. I promise you they have my pic and looked thru their bad guy list and said this guy is just a fluke. A fluke walking out with their money! LOL. Their are books that explain setting dice, I was shown by another player and had quick results. Bigger than setting the dice is to learn to not bet on all throwers. Never bet on anyone who just launches the dice. Everyone loves people who throw sevens cause everybody wins!! SEVENS are the worst number period!! I have failed if I roll a seven on the come out roll. Some people don't understand that. Those people should not throw dice.

Its like going to the mall and walking through the food court. They always hand out samples of bourbon chicken from the Chinese place. Makes me so mad, I don't even like bourbon chicken. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Great news for Beautiful Dixie!

So, Troy, what does "geaux" mean in French?

ETA: I just found it. It means "go" and is pronounced just like "go."

Ive been to Vegas every year in May for 12 yrs. It is oppressively disgustingly hot every year except THIS ONE. It was 53 when i got up this AM and the high today 73!! Its real nice, the whole place feels different.

Of course being that I KNOW IT ALL i didnt check the weather before coming. Looks like ill be washing my 2 long sleeve shirts in the sink!

LOL! Isn't that the way it always is?! :embarrassed2:

It's nice to hear you're having a good time and that the weather is cooperating. Safe journey! :)

Oh, if you get any action smut, us inquiring minds back home would like to know. ;)

I did hear Mark Trainer was playing Melissa Little with Ronnie Wiseman coaching Melissa Little for a nickel a game. I don't know how they came out yet. Melissa was giving, I think, 8 to 7, one pocket. The first game was 5 to 3 Trainer, and it was taking 2 to 3 hours to play one game. Observers say it was like watching paint dry. :p

Action is slow. The card players are around, but they haven't really surfaced yet as far as playing pool. It's a little early still for that. There's still a lot of pool players around, but as far as the big gambling goes, not really much so far.

I'll find out the outcome later today of Melissa and Mark.

Yes Maam...Geaux ain't a official word...it's just a play on the word go cajun style :p

Action has been light so far. Other than the usual action, there hasn't been any big match ups. A bunch of players are just getting in from Manila. Mika, Shane and others got in last nite.

I heard that Efren and Frost are looking to play some 20k or 50k one hole, at the Cue Club, Thursday, depending on "Alex". Have to wait and see if this one goes off.

Other than that, the biggest action is at the Rhino.

Eric >make it rain...
