Very close to a major disaster: USPS strikes again

I'm still fuming that one of the morons here sold me an old one piece cue. I asked them to put it in a pipe and send it Fed Ex insured on my account - and they agreed.

Instead, they put it in 2 triangular boxes taped together and mailed is USPS priority mail - a 60 year old cue is now broken in half JUNK. The box looked like it was an accordian by the time the postal service got done with it.

What a joke. Here, take a look. Only negative rep I've left here.

ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY, THAT TAPE WASN;T STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD ALL THE WEIGHT THAT WAS STACKED ON TOP OF IT? I THOUGHT PACKING TAPE WAS LIKE SUPERMAN......LOL.

THAT SUCKS. IT'S A SHAME WHEN OLD CUES GET DAMAGED, IT'S LIKE LOSING PART OF CUE HISTORY.

How the hell does that even happen? very lucky and nice cue I might add:thumbup:

I can tell you how that happens.....worked at fed x about 8 years ago....when loading a truck they want you to pack them in like a tetris game. thats not always the case....most guys will build a wall of boxes then throw the rest behind them to the front of the truck

THAT'S EXACTLY HOW IT'S DONE. I LOADED FOR UPS WHILE I WAS IN SCHOOL, AND THAT WAS HOW I WAS EVEN TAUGHT TO DO IT, BY THE GUY THAT I GOT TEAMED UP WITH.

How much for the vintage Stanley 16' tape measure? :D

My horror story! The hole is worse than it looks. It was pretty big and clear through the leather. They did refund the entire price I paid for the case but it's awful to lose a beautiful collectable New York case in excellent condition.

I just received a Sailor cue that was supposed to be shipped UPS but got shipped two day USPS. It took 8 days to come 200 miles from Gurnee Il. to Galesburg Il.

I've been shipping cues in the triangle boxes only and have been lucky. I've sent some cues overseas packed in PVC and a box. The thing is, it doesn't cost more than a dollar or two more to ship the cue in PVC. You don't even need the caps, just tape the ends (if you are putting it in another box). After seeing the damage posted here lately, I'm going to ship everything in PVC from now on.

Good thinking. But since the PVC caps are cheap, why not buy a pair of those & tape them on the tube? Seems to be that you can't pack anything too securely these days.

Sometimes packages fall out of the plane doors from 30,000 feet, land on a mountain, roll down the side of said mountain, get mauled by an annoyed grizzly bear that was unfortunate enough to have the package land on its head, and then have to be wrestled away from the bear by the valient USPS retrieval crew.

It's a hard job, show some respect, those bears are not pushovers ya know.
