I can't see any upside in putting your business on the street, so I won't.

Stirring it up and then arguing about it, while jumping up & down on your golddplated soapbox is what you live for and I'm not going to give you the opportunity.

yeah like the golf channel, a billiard channel, and a poker channel too, i'd have 4 flat screen TV's in my TV room on the wall, the billiard channel, poker and 2 extra ones, that would be great.

Just combine them all and call it the Degenerate Gamblers Network.

DGN would be a great network appealing to men between the ages of 18 and 100.

Thats one hell of a demographic.

...You keep complaining about the gutting of video sales. But the videos are also on sports networks, attracting advertising dollars, and, presumably, earning money for the producer. One wonders which is the more lucrative - broadcast rights or video sales? But if billiards attracts viewers on TV, one suspects that they want to watch current competitions, not ancient history. Perhaps the best use of old videos is promotion. Certainly it took a lot of horsepower to put up all those long videos in such a short period of time.

Good point. Also, if you watch the videos, Accu-Stats is getting free advertising
from the videos along with some other companies. I am this close to getting a can of chalk-off. ;-)

So Russ without EVER having looked at what was actually posted on here went off and started calling people thieves for looking at the vids?

Nooooooo.. What I DID, is ask if anyone knew whether Pat was aware of these videos.. And then I told the board I gave him a heads up about these videos.. Then I was attacked.. When people started attacking me, then I thought to myself, "Well heck, if these people thought they were doing the right thing, they wouldn't attack me for giving Pat a heads up.".

People started calling me an a$$hole, jerk, penis, and myriad other names for doing nothing more than telling Pat his videos were up on YouTube. Now, with that being ALL I did, and recieving that kind of response, what sort of reason would I have for thinking the links were a legitimate source.

They may be.. But that still did not justify the way people responded to me for being what they deemed a "tattle tale". (Yes, someone actually said that..)

Ok let's be realistic here guys, especially you Russ. here is the fact or merit of the discussion. you were not able to watch the video, which you think violates the rules of copyright laws. it's like saying that you're a judge that puts every person behind bars without the benefit of a fair trial in which evidences are presented. even a judge is not allowed to make blind conclusions, otherwise he is disbarred from judicial practice for extreme prejudice. the thing is, you are acting like a judge, in which you are not by the way. your intentions are good, but in the wrong way of showing it and people notice that.

Now here is the thing about the supposed videos, I saw some of it , but not all of it. what I think (as a logical individual) of the video is that it is like of a normal tv programme. ads were included on those videos I saw. now, we are in the modern era 2000 where the most powerful and influential tool for advertising is the internet. and more people are hooked in the internet now than on the television. the tv ads are thing of the past, so it is more logical that advertisers endorse their product in a new form of medium, where it is easily accessed and viewed. it is apparent that a lot of people access youtube and the advertisers took notice of this. and took advantage of this opportunity to endorse their goods. I can assure you Russ that if the youtube management saw something that violates copyright laws, they'll be the first one to take down those videos and ban that uploader for good. I knew some people who got their videos removed by the youtube management becoz of copyright violations.

I believe that those videos are for promotional purposes because I "SAW" them.

product endorsements have evolved thru many decades. first the use of the radio, then the television, and now the internet. this is the modern era and people evolved as well from cave dwelling to intellect gathering. a person who doesn't think of this and had his way or the highway attitude is more of a caveman !

[...] Let's assume 4000 DVDs sold per year is the magic number. That's over 100 DVDs per day, for something like a $60,000 a year income.. That seems like an EXTREMELY thin margin, and that assuming a FULL $20.00 profit on each DVD. [...]

Actually it is about 11 DVDs a day, not "over 100".

Hey,

Yah gotta have the "I'm blind, I haven't played for ten years, I hurt my back, this smoke bothers my contacts, etc.." patter down to get the right games! Heh heh!

All I gotta say, is that I will eventually end up paying Smorg for posting online that he beat me, because he is known to get upwards of 6-7 balls in One Pocket from certain big gamblers in LA, so I can get seen as an automatic fish for him beating me.... And that can ONLY be good when yah got a Diamond Pro/Am at home and a full year to practice, with no need for a job... :D :D :D

Positive rep for a funny post..

Hey - how about a pool room?? :D

Seriously, I wish I could remember playing you! Sounds like you must've won.....I'll play again someday, when I have time to practice. (Once a pool player, always a pool player, ya know?) :p

lol I think the fun arguing part migrated to the other thread. But that one's given me a headache and I hope it can die a peaceful death.
