Videos from the Worlds

Thanks for the heads up. There are some great matches for only ~$1 to rent.

Lets see, Sigel v. Martin; Martin v. Ortmann; Lipsky v. Davis to name a few.

This is great. I was pretty sure I had seen almost every single archived 14.1 match and was running out of new material to study from. (Marop's Library of Congress excluded).

are being uploaded now:

I downloaded the first two but when I went back today, they are not downloadable. Rentable only. 99 cents.

There are a lot more though.

Did i hear what i thought i heard when clicking the first link up above ???

Hopefully they will sell dvd's. I would prefer a permanent hard copy to a rental which will expire.

AL, i have about 20 names so far for JR, i hoping to get more so we can plead a good case for dvd's !!!!

Any possibilty that I can get the match that I played? It seems a little silly that I can only rent it. Paying to watch myself is a little weird. If DVD's come out I will surely buy some.

anyone know why the Sigel/Ortmann match is 72 hrs for rental and the others are 24?

watched the Sigel/Ortmann match last night with my girlfriend. should really be labelled the "Sigel" match; Mike breaks, Ortmann tries a full-pack combo which fails wildly, and Mike runs 100.

but i have to say, it's not really an inspiring 100. kinda hopeful for someone at my level to watch Sigel overrun positions as badly as i do (apparently the cloth was Wicked fast), then overcompensate on the next shot and come up short. which led to some amazing scrambling and impressive shots, but didn't look much like Mike Sigel. impressive that he ran out given all of that, but not very interesting play, really, and Ortmann only shoots once, so it's not really a match.

will try to look at the Sigel/Martin game tonight or over the weekend, and very interested to see the Davis/Lipsky match; really love Steve's playing!

Kunihiko showed pretty nice touch in that match. Looking forward to watching a few others over the weekend, thanks for posting the links.

thank you for the link, Dennis! Kunihiko's play was truly beautiful in that match; very skillful, very heads-up play. JR's commentary was, for my taste, among the very best commentary i've ever heard; calm, focused, insightful. don't know why some videos, including this one, give the option for 720, as it's clearly nowhere near that. still, good enough to see quite clearly, and the price is hard to argue.

i also had a great time watching the Martin/Sigel match. wonderful to see Ray, who i've heard so much about but never seen. excellent match, good comments from Max, gorgeous sharp 720 video, well worth the 99 cents!

The Hohmann vs. Pagulayan semifinal match video, unfortunately does not appear to cover the entire match. The second video of the pair cuts out with Hohmann mid-run, with the score at 183-172 at the beginning of the rack. I tried restarting it a few times (since some of the other videos have behaved erratically) but this video really does seem to just end abruptly at this point.
