Nope. I only play 4 ball![]()
So, instead of simply addressing the questions asked, you again go on to personal attacks.
Cool. I bet you beat a lot of awesome players.
Derby is right around the corner. Can we expect to see you there, or is the competition there a little tougher than what you're used too?
Jesus Neil, get a damn grip. Personal attacks? Wasn't it you complaining about people driving pros away a while ago? Cj is a pita at times but his views deserve some respect.
Nobody watches 9 ball, in case you hadn't noticed.
What does it equalize? The only thing it equalizes is starting position. As a player I still need the skills to control the cue ball and get a shot on the one. If I lack there, no way am I able to run out. So if CJ Wiley and his mighty TOI isn't up to the task of winning every magic rack, winner breaks tournament. It shows that there's a lot more to the game than you see. I like watching people put 6 packs or better on other players. Did you by chance catch the Castle tournament from this weekend? In the last three matches streamed there were 2-3 break and runs out of like 50 games played. And it had nothing to do with balls being made on the break. It all came down to the players ability to run out, or lacking of ability. Most of the time it was a safety that killed the break and run.
As far as the magic rack, and other training aides are concerned. The magic rack is the least of the problems. Fancy training cue balls and sticks have no ability to train routes around the table. So no matter how many times a players says to themselves "I hit that perfect. Why didn't I get shape?" They fail to realize that they didn't hit it perfect. I'm sure there are many champions that don't agree with you CJ. You act as if you're the only voice of the players around here. But as far as I can tell, you couldn't be more disconnected with the pro scene.
No offense but 2 separated racks did not mean you beat the 15-ball ghost.
I believe all of us would love to see uncut video of you beating the 15-ball ghost. That will be a real treat.
I don't believe anyone can beat the "15 Ball Ghost" over an extended time - I have beaten the 14 ball ghost on several occasions. This is about as good as the game can be played.
So, instead of simply addressing the questions asked, you again go on to personal attacks.
That's quite true.
I heard in a TAR interview with Ronnie Alcano when he said the young Efren was the only one he's ever witnessed/known beating the 15-ball ghost. I think we can believe him.
Another thing on the break in 9 Ball.
We have come a long ways since the 90's...
The cat's out of the bag and all the top players understand the importance of a truly tight rack now -- not just having the top three balls frozen.
As far as my speed is concerned -- I think I still need weight from legit shortstops, at least what I consider to be shortstops in my mind. Here on AZ, many have referred to themselves as shortstops, using the term as if it means you’re just a decent player. To me, a shortstop has always been a really good regional player, not just the best league player in your small town.
P.S. I don't recall exactly what type of chips those were but I do know they had jalapenos in them and they were pretty good.
You are making some incorrect statements.
1) The "first three balls" being tight is not as important as you think. Actually it's better if they're separated slightly to make the corner ball.
2) A "tight rack" may not be the best rack to make balls. Certain "gaps" need to be present on some tables to make the corner ball....on new cloth it seldom matters.
3) Looking at the rack before you break is like looking at the top of the deck playing poker.....it gives the player that knows what he's looking for a HUGE advantage.
If you wonder about my references I'll tell you in two words - JOE TUCKER
Google his name if you don't know who he is.![]()
Since when is asking someone if they play pool competitively a "personal attack".
It's okay if you don't, gamble, teach or even play pool - just don't get on a pool forum and discourage others from playing, teaching or gambling, it's not proper etiquette.
Would you agree that pro players in the 90's didn't worry as much about the rack as they do today? If so, why is that? Because I know players have known forever about basic pattern racking. Mike Sigel talked about this in one of his Nine Ball Videos back then.
My hunch was players were more accepting of the randomness of the spread of the balls. I think this made for a more interesting game but it only took one person to spoil it for everybody. I think we all know who that was.
Oh well....back to the thread.
Later
What does it equalize? Have you ever used one, it turns the game into "tick-tac-to"
When each player can hit the rack like a "spot shot" and make the corner ball it's an equalizer. All champions agree with me that it's an equalizer, if you can find one that doesn't please let him voice his opinion for professional debate.
Running 6 racks with the magic rack is not a big deal. There's literally thousands of people that can and it's boring.
A champion player using a magic rack is like Barry Bonds playing "Tee Ball" :groucho:![]()
Ok I seriously think you've gone off the deep end. Delusional as always CJ. Where are these thousands of players that run 6 packs? I've used magic racks before, and unless you're also pattern racking, it is not "tick-tac-to". Break slightly too hard or too soft and you have very difficult routes. It's about time you stop blaming your short comings on the table on the magic rack. And plus, no matter how many times you spout that "all champions agree with me" doesn't make it true. You would surprised at how many high level players don't conform to your way of thinking. Stop trying to make yourself out to be the grand master you dream of being and actually go out there and do it.
I guess if you tell your lies often enough, some people will believe them. Pretty sad, though, when all you ever have for rebuttals is lies. I'm done responding to your nonsense in this thread. All you want to do is derail it and make it all about you. Just like your phony 15 ball ghost video that you got busted on. I'm not going to be a participant in you ruining another thread. Adios.
