Vote for anyone except Austin Murphy

You want criteria?. How about picking the players with the most consistent performance during the last IPT full season?. These are players who have proven they deserve to be considered by performing at the highest level. Pick the top 10 ranked IPT players and let us vote between them.

Was Austin in the top ten, top twenty even?. He's currently ranked 150. If he wants to play with the big boys, he should be competing at the same level and finishing as such. The top ten players all won between 25-40 matches. Austin won 2. He didn't compete in as many, even more reason my point is valid.

Do you feel that Gerda and Foldes are not worthy of playing in this match because of their IPT performance? Foldes is ranked 101st, and Gerda is 123rd.

BTW, Austin is closing in on second place again. The IPT has now changed the picture on their main page from Gerda to Austin.

I guess the concept of voicing an unpopular opinion is mean spirited right?.
Unpopular opinions are typically unpopular for a reason. IMO, your comments and attitude in this thread state more about who you are than who Austin is.

Please feel free to continue to hoist yourself by your own petard. You have every right to do so.

Enough already. Give the opportunity to earn money in our sport to a pro who has paid their dues.

Thanks bumbypickle... looks like your thread has helped Austin's goal.

He's gaining on Efren on the strength of more votes and I am sure your giving Austin more attention persuaded more voters to vote for him than against him..

Thanks again.

I love your type, hating on what someone writes but you'll read every word.

You're right. I wanted to know how far your rabbit hole of flapdoodle goes.

I suspect if I keep digging I may be able to rescue you.

Keep digging and keep spinning around like a broken record....

Meanwhile, I just gave Austin 24 more votes. I gave 1 to Tyler Edey just so you don't think I'm anti-Canadian :D

This isn't a competition for the player who's paid the most dues. It's who each person wants to see in a tournament. It's not for a world title; it's for our viewing pleasure.

If you don't want to vote for Austin, vote for someone else. Someone else's votes don't even concern you. That's all there is to it. It is inane and immature for a select few to blow this up to put someone down.

I also wonder... where are the 'Don't vote for Darren or Karl' threads?

If it's not the "who's paid the most dues" challenge match, what is it?.
Maybe the "who campaigns for themselves the hardest" challenge match?.

After reading this entire thread I've returned to post #5 and offer a reply.

To answer your question in bold I will call it what the IPT calls it, the "Viewers Choice Challenge Match". http://www.internationalpooltour.com/EventVoting/votingresults.aspx

Seeing that we are all viewers we can all make our own decision on how and for whom we will vote.

First of all, I could care less about Austin's age. I'm basing my opinion on his accomplishments, and since he just happens to be young, naturally there aren't as many as a Deuel or a Pagulayan.

Since I don't feel his age should factor in at all, I also don't feel that he should be babied because he's a young man.

I wasn't "griping", I was stating FACT.

Well why arent you talking about the weak stats of the other players that are leading right now? It seems you are picking on Murphy when the other two leading vote getters were and are just as bad (Gerda and Foldes). You say Murphy hasnt paid his dues but Gerda and Foldes hasnt paid their dues in the IPT either:confused: He isnt far behind Gerda or Foldes but they deserve to be there and Murphy doesnt. Gerda and Foldes both only made 3 more thousand than Murphy did in the IPT.

I'm sick of the "they gotta eat" story too. They chose their profession. Nobody MADE them be professional pool players. They can go get a job just like anyone else. If you are not good enough to feed your family then you need to think about a career change.

I have yet to see a reasonable gripe about why Murphy DOESNT deserve to be in this match. This is a viewers choice vote for a pool match. NOBODY has the right to get on here and dog anyone that votes. If KT and the IPT didnt want this to happen then they shouldnt have had a "VIEWERS CHOICE" vote (once again and I repeat, VIEWERS CHOICE).

<snip>I simply stated that his accomplishments "THUS FAR" do not warrant his inclusion into this challenge match, IMO.
This is not a tournament where the best players are selected by qualification. Nor is this an invitational tournament where the goal is to select the most qualified players. The IPT challenge matches are simply exhibition matches.

What kind of accomplishments or amount of paying your dues are required for an exhibition match? Exactly right--none. It makes no sense to try to make up imaginary requirements in an attempt to justify keeping certain players out of consideration just because you don't want to see them. Just say who you want to see and state your case for why you feel they should be selected.

And this particular match is not only an exhibition match, but it also happes to be a people's choice exhibition match as well. What possible argument could be made to exclude a player from consideration when the only criteria is who the majority of the people want to see? Exactly right--none.

It would be impossible for Austin to be any more qualified for this match. The only valid argument that can be made is for who you would like to see and why. There are no valid arguments to exclude anyone from consideration under this format. It's a people's choice match, and the people should be allowed to choose who they want without limitation.

Well, I dont know Austin, but if the kid has enough moxy and initiative to go out and work for something, even if its asking for votes, and not just sitting around and waiting on someone to just give him something....sounds pretty smart to me. I will vote for him. JMO.

In honor of Bumpypickle and Klopek,

I just gave Austin 25 more votes. He's within 0.19% of taking second place!

In that case, I would like to be chosen to play Gerda or a similar player in a challenge match. I will guarantee I make it interesting.
