Maybe I did a bad thing, but I gave Greg Sullivan a call (since he had posted his number here). He says that he believes there is a room at Executive West that he could fix up for a 9 foot table - JUST FOR AZBilliards people. His cost would be about $1000. If we can come up with the cash, then we could have the table and the keys to the room for $1,000 for the week. I believe he had just talked to OHB's friend Mike about the same thing.
I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but I am willing to help work things out. Who is Mike, and does he need or want help getting things arranged?? I'll pledge $200 just to get things started (assuming I will get a block of time to play on the table). Greg was talking about putting a table in without the coin-op feature (meaning he wouldn't make any money on the venture). Would we want to kick in extra for Greg, or perhaps use a coin-op table. I am not opposed to him making some money on the deal.
I will also kick in a sign, and perhaps a big dry-erase board so that spectators will know who is playing, and for what stakes (if the players are inclined to reveal the details). Perhaps even work up a schedule of table time so that some matches could be scheduled ahead of time (perhaps some on-line, pre-match woofing would be appropriate). I suspect that there are several pro's who would probably be willing to spend some time at the table for challenges or small-stakes matches (I'll be happy to try to arrange it if anyone is interested)
