You are right.As far as I've ever heard from cue guys down hear is a Water Buffalo tip is the exactly what the schon tip is.

wich one thou...i bought some sume EXhard....but they are harder....not bad but not what i want....i want the exact tip.
so "Water buffalo" brand in hard is what i want????

i have emaild him before about a custom cue quote and he responded within the week.
I think so....WB brand...maybe in a medium even (they are hard tips).
From what I've heard, they are the WB tips, but they are hand selected and treated in some way. Maybe compressed before install. I contacted him years ago about wanting to buy some because I was in the same boat you are. I was told to send it in to have it done as he didn't sell tips alone.

thats bogus...im not mailing my shaft just to get a tip .and nobody seems to know for sure what exactly the tips are.???
water buffalo is what i thought i heard before, (and now i hear wb with this and that done to it maybee) what a pain in the arse.
all i want is the same tip that they use at the factory
hed probably charge 30 bucks ontop of shipping, when i get it done at the pool hall for $5 plus tip price. so its $6 if i get a Lepro wich is fine, i dont mind LePro(played them for 15 yrs) but then it wont hit like the origional.....it will hit like the origional with a lepro tip(flat sounding).
the origional tip has a sound to it that is perfect imo....its the way every cue should sound when striking a ball....not noticable in a noisy room but when its quiet and your playing it makes a big difference to me.
if anyone knows for sure let me know,,,, id appreciate it.... maybee ill just keep bugging evan till he sells me some tips....ill only need 15 or so

Instead of going off about what is bogus. How about contactiong them to see what your options are. They may sell just a tip if not than i would try another brand of tip otherwise send it off get what you want.

You should try looking up Troy "KOINNKID" I think he maybe able to help you out here.
Water buffalo is a material. There are many companies that make pool cue tips out of it. Many people like the Kamui tips. You can give them a try, you should start with a medium, then later on you can decide if you want the tip softer or harder. There are also so many more tips on the market that you might like, but you never really know if you will like them if you don't give them a try. Also, some tips just aren't consistent, you might like brand A tipss, then the next time you get one installed it doesn't feel the same as the last one. I like Sniper tips, but on some cues I didn't like them. Sometimes I install a Sniper tip and I didn't like it as much as the previous sniper tip. If you don't get Schon to send you some tips, try out some other tips.

I think Schon modifies a manufactured tip then they add a black backing. They are not WB brand tips or any others that I tried. At one time The WB brand was a great tip but they changed there mixture about 10 years ago. At any rate I have two Schon tips for $13.

i actually Like playing with the Sumo tip wich is only slightly less hard than a piece of gravel....i put one on my other shaft to try, the only thing i dont like about it is you have to be carefull about chalking every shot because it doesnt it hold very well... the super hard tip it forces you to really stroke the ball well. took a while to get used to....tho, it also breaks balls good...and jumps ok.
