Hello Everyone;

Looking to buy a Unique Wrap magic fixture with the DVD.

Thanks

Hi,

Unless someone is quitting cue making and selling everything, I don't think you find one of those for sale soon. I have never seen one for sale used.

I would never sell mine, it is a great jig.

That's what I think.... I wanted to try my luck before spending 400 on a new one.

I tried too, no luck :(
Got one from the guys at unique. Shipped fast, and it is a great tool.

I have been thinking of getting one myself. Does anyone have any videos of it in action?

I do not want to highjack a thread but how does the Unique compare to the Deangelo? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I'll video the next one I do.
Afaik deangelo isn't around anymore.
I think they compare pretty well to each other.
It's a well made jig for sure

I was lucky. I bought one in the Sale forum for a fraction of the price.
I also got the Tiger Stack kit for $100 if I remember.

Keep your eyes peeled, one will come up as soon as you shell out the $400.

I have the Deangelo and it works real well. I do not know the differences between the Deangelo and Unique. Does anyone know how they differ?

The DeAngelo jig has an online link demonstrating a wrap intall if you would like to watch and down load that one. There is a couple of small features between the two but basically the same.

I believe that the DeAngelo has a slide that will lift the butt of the cue and hold it in place against the cutting rails whereas the Unique had a spring loaded holder that does the same thing.

Other than that, no difference that I can remember.

Have the DeAngelo also. Got mine early in the game... #009. Before the price went up. Works very well, would not think of selling mine either. Don't know how they compare but they all must be fairly similar.

I have the Unique and justvwanted to say that the service I got from them was great. I heard that Ernie from Gina has a slick set up. Has anyone seen it and comment on his process? Just curious.

A friend of mine told me this story.
A good player from Arizona sent Ernie a cue to be wrapped.
When they got there the wrap wasn't even started yet.
Ernie tells the owner he'll do the wrap then.
He took them to his lathe with a jig.
Two claws come out of the jig, one marks the bottom shoulder and the other the top.
Ernie locks them from travelling up and down the ways then puts them down.
He said they looked like talons.
Ernie glues the wrap , top and bottom.
Whips out the two talons and cuts the bottom and top dead nuts.
Straight edge comes down and he cuts the middle seam.
All in 10 minutes according to my friend.
Ernies uses some black glue he said.

I tried mounting roller cutters on my lathe. It can cut the middle seam fine but the shoulders are the tricky part .

Unique is a fine jig.

Amazing story Joey,

Since Mr. G has been doing cues for almost fifty years, I for one will leave that skill set alone. I agree the Unique jig is awesome.

When it comes to doing leather wraps, I don't wish to break any speed records myself. Slow and steady for me.
