West Coast Cue Show!

I would just like to say how much I appreciated being a part of this show. Having the opportunity to help people get together for the simple appreciation of the art of cue making and collecting was a unique experience for me. I got the chance to meet a lot of new cue enthusiasts, develop new friendships, and to help bring this type of experience to the West Coast. The pictures say it all. I had a blast working with Rex, and Jazz was in rare form yesterday, he had us all in stitches! Thanks to Rex, Kenny, Ho, Kevin, Rick, Jerry, Tom, Tommie, Tony, Jim Pierce and Jim Trusler.

Also, thanks to Bill Grassley who donated the beautiful jackets for door prizes, and to Kevin and Russ, the owners of Crown Billiards for providing a great venue for the show.

My sincere appreciation to all of the fans that came out, and to all of you who participated and made this first WCCS a success. I think we have paved the way for next year!!

Jim Pierce Custom Cues. I bought the one with the dollars. He has another with $5 bills. I am representing some of his cues.
TOMMIE

Can you send me the info on the $5 cue...

Poolplayer2093: Sorry I missed you at the show. I had a AZ key chain set aside for you too.

Tommie: Big thanks to you and M for being a part of the show. I'm glad you sold some cues and represented cuemakers that couldn't make it out. As I was getting ready to leave I saw some young guys gawking over a new cue one of them had just bought from you. He was showing it off and they all wanted to hit with it. It was one of the cues Jim Lee (JD Cues) had sent out. New people coming into the sport and supporting (and appreciating) the cuemakers that build the tools of the game... that was the main intention of the show.

To me, along with all the ridiculously amazing cues were some good friendships in the making.

i actually talked to that guy that bought the jim lee cue. he said it was something like 17.2oz. it was a good looking cue with a really stiff looking taper.

the Filipino guy who tried the cue out had a monster stroke.

It was poring on Saturday ... our first big rain. The drive to/from San Ramon was pretty bad with many accidents on Bay Area freeways. Despite that, for me, the turnout was great .... a lot of people came by, most of 'em that I didn't even know.

Thanks to DJKeys, Crown Billiards was very warm place .. the owners were there and they were very cool. The display cases shown in photos were all made by Cyrex ... who put his personal time in to make them all .. and he made like 10 of 'em!!! Everyone who was displaying got to use 'em. DJ and Cyrex put in their time and money into the event without getting any financial remuneration except kudos!!

I met krbsailing and obrien for the first time ... pretty sure I scared the hell out of 'em

Jerry McWorter and Chudy were nice ... even though I admitted cyber-knowing Jimbo. Other local cue makers turning up for the events as well.

Chudy

Jazz.. the show wouldn't have been the same without you! I can't thank you enough for your participation. I was laughing my butt off the whole time hanging out with you. Thanks too for the good deal on the Carmelli cue. :D

I really tried hard to get a pick of Chudy's 'Wildwood' cue. That was by far my favorite of the show. The sterling silver points were like mirrors! And that wood was so irridescent it pratically glowed. McWorter's cues too were stunning. Both are the epitome of functional art.

If you've never seen any of their cues I highly recommend checking out their websites:

McWorter cues

Thanks to all who had a hand in setting this up. It was interesting to see all the different styles of cues.

Yeah, the rain was pretty nasty, but hey, I didn't drive. :D :D :D I hitched a ride.

I think Kenny's table had all my favorite cues...especially the Murrell's and the Sugartree. Not to mention a vast array of exotic wraps.

Glad you guys made it out to the show. Shoreline representing!

Which Murrell was your favorite? I couldn't decide between the green barbell cue or the 8pt'er. He does some amazing work.

Jazz..

Along with the Sugartree ebony Titlist! Josey Gambler Blue Book 3 cue! (Love that cue! Josey's cues hit great too!) Stunning Hunter 'Bling Bling' cue! Southwests, Horns, Gracio, Tucker, Carmelli, and way too many more to even remember. It was an awesome selection. The thing I like about Jazz's collection is that he plays with all of them!

Hey Guys,

It was a GREAT day; I'm really looking forward to next year -- I'll have to bring some fancier cues to try and compete with Mr. Koo & Jazz & Howard

I had an excellent trip....save the drive back to San Fran  .... not a fun drive in the rain!!!

Really enjoyed meeting all you folks -- A special thanks to Kenny Koo (and his Wife) for allowing me to hang with them at their table....a very poplular spot!?

It was a kick meeting Jerry M., R. Chudy and Mr. Coker  -- BIG FUN for me as I've never been to an event like this before :grin-square:

I had a GREAT TIME (save driving in the rain to SF--thought I left that in the NW) and look forward to a BIGGER SHOW next year -- see ya then, Ken

The green barbell cue was my favorite from the Murrell's. However, the cue that really had me drooling was the Sugartree on Kenny's table...I believe it's been noted that it is/was Mr. Crisp's personal player. I liked it a lot...until I looked at the bumper and subsequently, the price tag. :sorry: :D

I couldn't help but notice I made it into the thread...specifically, picture number 3 with my back to the camera. I get to keep my anonymity...woot! :grin-square:

The cue I'm looking at in that picture had the most fabulous olivewood I've ever seen in it, BTW.
