We NEED a new rule for the wanted/for sale section

We don't need no stinkin' rules! There's enough rules already and this rule about all posts need to be selling or buying something is just plain foolish. This is a topic that needs to be discussed and putting this thread in the main forum is not logical and helps no one.

we can't follow the current rules, what makes you think anyone would follow this one. If you want a price, simply ask. If you think everyone should know post it after you ask. Sure you won't get to many more prices unless your actually buying for a bigger than normal (lets say 1K) markup.

We can't follow the rules now because they are rarely enforced. I don't think posting a price of someone else's item in their thread is a good idea. Thats an easy way to piss people off.

And just so you guys don't think that other forum is isolated:

give me a break.......PLEASE

Here is my long winded response to this absurd proposal.

It is the sellers personal decision how he wants to post his item. No price....who cares. No pics....who cares. No details....who cares.

buyer beware.....such is life

Less rules.

More common sense.

The seller has the right to limit or expand his potential market in any way he wants, it is exactly the definition of "his business", as in it's his business whether he wants to ship to any particular country, accept any form of payment, sell with or without pictures, with or without a price. If the seller is selling in some way that doesn't include you in the group of participants, then move on to the next. Won't buy if the deal doesn't include a case? then move on from those offerings without a case, same with pricing or any other consideration. Most of the folks b*itching about the lack of a price on a Balabushka offering are far more curious (such as myself) than they are ready to actually buy. How in the world can we be considering saying that 2 people on this forum don't have the right to exchange a collectible without all of us knowing every detail?

Thanks

Kevin

My sentiments exactly! Are we not men? Or are we children who need rules?

These is my proposed "rules":

1. Life is short. Don't be a dick.
2. Don't knock someone else's action.

Mash, you should add this to your sig:
"Though I disagree with everything you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it" ...as long as you've followed all the RULES.
or this from Voltaire:
"Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too."

My experience has been in general the people that want the pics and prices aren't the ones interested in the cue. If you are truly interested, you will PM or email the individual and get the information.

I always try to post a price, but there have been a couple situations where the deal needed to be between me and the potential buyer and not the general public.

Correct! Weeding out the Lookie Lous & Tire Kickers.:grin:
I don't see nothing wrong with putting a cue up and seeing what some one wants to offer you for it. Think about it, you really can not rip some one off if you never set the price.

Thats the way it is ........

i agree somewhat but i don't even think you should post anything in THEIR thread......regardless of what anyone thinks, a person has the right to post what THEY want, the way THEY want, for THEIR benefit. NOT the way YOU want...PERIOD.....if you have an issue, stop reading, ignore the thread...whatever... or suck it up and deal with them in the way THEY chose....... that's the long and short of it......

skins..................don't like it?.....get over it and move on......life's too short....

TAP TAP TAP ......... way to go

REP to you dude

Why post a link to a knife forum.
Cheesedick! Everyone here got tired of listening to your whining over Jim Baxters joint protectors.
Man, you're a whiner. Are you married? If you are, doesn't your wife get tired of your whining. Do you have any friends? Probably not, but by the off chance that you do, do they ever get tired of your whining. You should tape record yourself, you're a whiner. Go away, WHINER!

I'm not telling anyone how to sell their items. I suggested the rule because myself and lots of others here are getting tired of all for sale threads that don't list price. How do you expect to buy anything without knowing the price. How about if the supermarket didn't have prices? Then what? You have to hunt someone down and ask them how much each item is? It's just common courtesy to list a price if you're selling something. This is the only place on earth that people feel it's ok to try and sell something without listing a price. It just makes no sense.

Do you think I'm the one that came up with this idea? Because I'm not. It's a rule on many other forums. To me, if you're not posting a price it's because you're trying to take advantage of someone with the afore mentioned exceptions.
Here is a link to the classified rules section on another forum I frequent:

http://www.ducati.ms/forums/showthread.php?t=50595

No one over there seems to have a problem with it. It's all just common sense. In this society we have rules we have to live by. Without them it's anarchy.

Please show me where I stated that I would never sell these two cues. Te be honest I would never sell the cues if I wasn't tired of all the jackasses who play the game in my area. It's nearly impossible to have a game between to gentlemen anymore. Everyone in my area has an attitude and are sore losers. I quite the game 5 years ago and just returned about 6 months ago hoping there would be a new crop of players in my area and things would change. There is a new crop of players but nothing has changed.
To be honest, based on some of the stuff I see posted on this site I'm not so sure it's just in my area. The lack of common courtesy in the world is mindblowing.

If you are getting tired, move to the next thread. If I wanted to buy something that did not have a price listed I would ask the seller. Sounds simple, doesn't it? This is NOT a supermarket just so you know. This is not a single entity selling many items. This forum is based on many sellers selling THEIR items. This forum has survived many years as it is. People buy stuff. People sell stuff. People trade stuff. I highly doubt this is the ONLY place that conducts business this way. If it is, move on. Nobody is begging YOU to buy their items. If something interests you, isn't the little extra work worth it? If not, move on. Buy from someone who lists a price, just so you can offer a lower price. This IS a public forum, but some people want their sale prices kept private. If you think people are trying to take advantage of others because they do not post a price maybe YOU should help these people. YOU can let them know what price they should offer. Sounds like a new business venture for you.

Maybe you should look at yourself if EVERYONE in your area is a jackass? Maybe you should take up another sport if EVERYONE in your area has an attitude and are sore losers? If they are all sore losers maybe you should challenge yourself on the Pro Tour?

Just sayin'...

To the admin/mods of this site:

Is it possible to make a rule that if you are selling something you MUST list a price? I am a member of several other (non-billiard) sites that also have a classified section and they all REQUIRE a price to be listed in the ad or it gets removed.

I know I'm not the only one who is sick of looking at ads with no price or "private sale" or "pm me for price". WTF? If you're trying to sell something list a price. Otherwise put it back in the case/safe and keep it. The only reason I can think of for not posting a price is because it's way too high and you're trying to take advantage of someone or rip them off.

There, I said it. I feel better now.

I would like to hear other's opinions so feel free to respond.

this is a tough one for me. while i understand your point, i also see nothing wrong with somone taking offers on an item. maybe they are just trying to see what the market will bear for thier item in a slow economy.

disagree with this thought completely

Having a price listed may be helpful but if the seller does not want it to be listed cause he/she has chosen to do that, it their choice to do so. What does it hurt to PM for a price if you are that interested in a product being sold or otherwise.

I feel that the excess comments and well wishes concerning each and every sale or item take up way to time and space on this site. I belong to another forum in which no changes or individual comments are allowed except by the original poster and all responses are through Private messages and the sale or item can be offered only bump forward every 3 days or 72 hours. this site is not flooded with the junk! this site rules are listed below and do require a price but that too has been discussed on this forum as well. these restrictions would also provide the moderators more time to update the site and provide the things that we want to see with out being a babysitter of the posts.

I agree with you Skinny -- what I was thinking when I said that is this.....If, I wanted you to quote a price that I may simply ask you for that in the thread and, perhaps suggest it may be helpful to post a price or pics or whatever!? :groucho:

gotcha...point taken...

Yeah, I'm a whiner because I wrote a factual review of a set of JP's that were made incorrectly. Grow up.

Nice Pm you sent me Monster, that and a red rep for me. Kinda proves my point. Say what you like about Jim B, my wife and I truly value his friendship and kindness he has shown both of us. I got a few greenies for my post in this thread. Not that I care about reps that much but the general concensus is, is that you're a whiny douchebag, and even much more in person.
Have a great Columbus Day.

I often need to sell something fast and offer it for BELOW its true value. Knowing that the buyer may relist the item for a higher price, I protect their interest and by extension, my own, by not disclosing the price.

There is 1 reason why a person not seeking to rip someone off might not list a price. There are others.

Trust me, it is no picnic selling something without a price tag up front. I get 20+ PM's from clueless opportunists who think I might be giving the item away. If you know much about what is being offered, you need not ask the price unless it is something you are shopping for. And if you are trolling for a sleeping seller who has undervalued his item, you are no better than the overpriced seller looking to rip off his buyer.

There, I said it. I feel better.
