WEI Table

I think that project is next in line to be fixed, as soon as they knock out this recent issue where clicking on posts (or making new posts) occasionally leads to a time out error.

I have it on good authority they're working hard behind the scenes on that issue, and I think once that's out of the way, fixing the wei table will be pretty straightforward.

Until then, you can still make diagrams with it, it's just a little extra work to post those diagrams.

the only benefit of wei table diagrams inserted in threads was multi-paging. If you need to share just a single layout - post a screenshot! When I was forced to use Mac at one of my former jobs the browser couldn't digest wei diagram and the computer got stuck everytime.
Myself, I would prefer there was a forum rule against inserting flash objects (or in favor of posting only images, if you like). Makes everyone happy and easy to see the table diagrams (I remember there are users who experienced problems on Windows-based systems too).

hihi vahmurka... you make a point. Flash is actually fine, it's been supported in mac since 1.0. But shockwave apparently has problems. It was nice to have the full shockwave object thought. The viewer could actually drag balls around, change the layout, and then copy the url to embed a slightly changed diagram in their reply.

It was nice for those "how would you play this" posts.

I wish the guy running the wei table website had a simple button to generate an image url, including image tags, so with a single click you get this in your clipboard: [ímg]http://pool.bz/P/?@4EHkt@.jpg[/img]

I am able to use Cuetable but cannot transfer the image to AZ Billiards forum. What am I missing? Is there any way to transfer the image?

you can take a "screenshot" of it, and post that here, but there is no interaction with it when you do that. So, in some cases it's fine, other cases it just doesn't "get it".

Is screenshot a cut and paste? No sure what you mean --- I have Windows 7

I'm not sure how to do it myself, but I'm sure someone will be along soon to let us all know just how to do it. Or... you can do a search on here because it has been mentioned a number of times before.

I will admit that the 'what would you do...' threads were some of my favorites.
Even Neil had a good one...or2!.

if u have picasa, open it, minimize it and hit control PS (print screen) or maybe shift PS. Its captured so then u have to go find the file and post it like u would any other picture on your HD.

Inserting cuetable diagrams using images

1. Go to http://pool.bz/P/ and make your diagram.
2. Click the wrench by the bottom left corner to display all the tools, if you haven't already.
3. Click the camera icon (just to the right of the side pocket).
4. Back in Windows, click start, and in the search box type paint (press enter after).
5. Click the paste button, then click the save button above it (floppy icon at the very top of the window).
6. Give it a name, save it somewhere you can find it easily.
7. Go to AZ billiards, make your post where you plan to insert the picture. If you're using 'quick reply', click "Go Advanced", otherwise there's no button to attach an image.
8. After typing all you need to type, click "Manage Attachments" which is below the submit button. A window should pop up (allow popups if you have them blocked). Click Browse, and make your way to the image you just saved, double click it. Then click Upload. You can now close this popup window.

After you submit your reply, the image you attached should show at the bottom of your post. To my knowledge this is the fastest way to show your diagrams. It works in older windows, you just need to open MS paint, paste and save your image, then carry on with the other steps. Not sure what you'd do in a mac but I'm guessing it's similar.

Well one wei to make it known that you would like to see cuetable access in AZB back is to go to Wei's forum and ask him.

CreeDo: that was too detailed

There is an obvious reason why Wei limited free access, he wanted more traffic for his own site, which is well justified. So to be able to use a layout one has to register there anyway. Now why should we be looking to embed the layout in AZB threads  Everyone just open another tab in browser and you are done

vahmurka: the theory that this was done intentionally by wei... is just a theory. I've haven't yet seen something to support that. Maybe someone just made that up because they want someone to blame.

Well, that quote is from my original post but it was wrong :/

Per JB's suggestion, I just went straight to the horse's mouth.
I asked wei via PM on his website, and he responded.

Normally I wouldn't post PMs but I think in this case,
the answer he gave me is the "official" answer, and it's ok for public consumption.

Nobody at AZB is clear what happened to cuetable. Can you tell us?

For years now people have wondered why the cuetable diagrams stopped working at AZ billiards.

Some feel it was intentional because you wanted traffic to go directly to your site.
Some feel it was not, and that the shockwave code broke when new updates came out.

Can you clear it up for AZ members? They were some of your biggest fans.

If it's intentional, why didn't you just say something people would not wonder forever what happened?

Dear CreeDo,

Thanks for your message and kind support for CueTable. I will try to explain your two questions:

1. CueTable and Pool.bz
As you might know, we have suffered a few attacks from hackers earlier this year. We had to go through a long process in rebuilding the site from ground up. At the time we came to a decision that CueTable would work the best in pool.bz site because the site is specifically created around CueTable conversation. We can only provide support for it on this site because we have control over the back-end stuff here. Think of Pool.bz as the perfect place where people can enjoy CueTable experience.

As of now we have 5 different CueTable software, and they all work very well at http://pool.bz. We highly encourage all users to take advantage of CueTable benefits here for free.

2. Adobe Shockwave Player
Adobe updates Shockwave plug-in as companies come out with new web browsers or new technology. As of now we haven't found a PC or MAC (less than 10 years old) that can't run CueTable. If you run into troubles, make sure your download the full installer from Adobe official site: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ The whole install process would take 1 minute and you should be ready to go. If anybody still is having troubles, please feel free to drop a question at http://pool.bz/software-site-support/ . We will be happy to sort it out for you.

I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me again if you need any help.

Thanks again,

Wei

Would have been nice had Wei thought to let us know this before pulling the plug on everyone here.

Looks like we are back to the drawing board.

I used it a few months ago and somehow downloaded something called registry mechanic which didn't seem to be in the best interest of my computer.

Too bad, I enjoyed it but not worth downloading something nasty.

Mike: Absolutely. I can't believe it's just been this long before we finally had a straight answer about the subject. I had thought it was an accidental side effect of shockwave going through some update.

Cuetable diagrams and AZB belong together like peanut butter and jelly. I told wei bluntly that the software is pretty much wasted on his website, which basically duplicates what AZ already does.

alstl: that was actually legit software... For a while, adobe decided to bundle the shockwave software (needed to view cuetable diagrams) with Registry Mechanic, which basically cleans up outdated or unneeded info in the PC's registry (which is where the computer hides millions of minor behind-the-scenes settings). You can opt out of this software and still install shockwave, or just stick to whatever version of shockwave you're already running.

I think they actually stopped bundling anything in with the software, these days.
