Was it a photo opt with The Black Widow?

Did you beat the house PRO?

Did you host a successful charity event?

What are some of your most memorable/favorite moments in billiards?

I've never really accomplished anything to speak of, but.........

......one of my memorable experiences I had in pool was the one time I got so "into" the zone...it was surreal...like I had stepped out of my body and into someone else's...someone with FAR more talent at pool than I possess.

I literally could not hear anything but the sounds emanating from the table/balls.

Needless to say, it was one of the best shooting nights I ever had in a league match (I rackless-ed another SL6, 5-0 in 7 innings).

Living in San Diego was great.

I used to live in San Diego back in the late 80's to early 90's. College billiards was the local pool room where all the best players would play. I got to meet and play some great players like Swanny, Morro, Louis Ulrich, Victor Castro, Mike Defino, Jeff Beckley and several others. At that time Louis and Jeff were just kids in their teens, but very talented players. I used to love going up to Hard times in Belflower to play in the weekly tournaments. Back in those days, pool was great. I miss those days.

when I got a blowjob in the bathroom of a poolhall I used to go to. sry for the TMI, but it was memorable.:thumbup2:

I have many.

My most memorable moment was the time I narrowly escaped being beat to a pulp by a group of baseball bat-wielding Vietnamese gangsters after I having won a measly 40 bucks off one of them.

When I was about 13 my dad had friends over and one of them played me a game of 8 ball. I ran 8 balls in front of all of them hitting every shot very hard, with no thought about position that I can remember.

Mine was that straight in shot from 6 inches out of the corner pocket at the three ball, the shot I needed to beat the kid that I wanted to beat badly ! I had just ran two racks and completed a good set of safeties to have the opportunity to take the race. I had to shoot the three ball in the corner pocket from, like I said, 6 inches away.. With just a touch of low to drift three or 4 inches to the rail to shoot the eight ball straight into the same pocket. I missed the three ball by 2 inches. There are countless misses floating around in my head, but this one was the worst. fortunately I tend not to make the same mistake twice. Unfortunately there are so many different scenarios in billiards that there is always a new opportunity to bone one!

Meeting & seeing Mike Massey perform when he came through our town years ago as part of a promotion for the APA. He was extremely pleasant & took time to answer a lot of questions. He's a true credit to the game & he has hands like bear paws!

Watching a great Joss tournament in Quincy,Ma 5k added every top pro from the U.S., Canada, and Philippines it was an absolute magic weekend of pool. I had been to Joss tours before but this field was Stacked.

Watching Liscotti gamble with Stalev at Country Club Billiards another Joss stop. Liscotti put on a show playng bank pool and just put on a woofing clinic you had to be there. Later I heard McCready got him on the table but I missed that part.

First time at Valley Forge winning over a Grand side betting in the pit. Later McCready and Frankie Hernadez matched up 10 ahead and we witnessed a stampeed of 300 people run to get a good spot around a table in back of the room. My and my buddy were left standing in our tracks it was litterally like something out of a cartoon.

Finally playing Liscotti is a Joss event over my head and way out gunned. I played unconcious running like a 3 pack followed by a 2 pack to go 7-7. Before he missed an 8 but locked me up. I made an impossible kick on the 8 knocked it in and scratched. He ran out from there

That's easy ... The Day THaney was BANNED !

Nah, that was precious, but it would surely be the night I ran 236 on a 5x10 Brunswick (1965) IN Competition.

Memorable Good:

1) As an APA 5, just starting...never saw a pro or anything. My captain asked me to go to a Mike Massey exhibition. LOTS of people were there, maybe 150-200 packed into a medium sized room. I break and make the 8 in the left side. A few cheers. I paid 10 bucks lol! I said I was hoping for a real game. So they let me go again. BAM 8 ball in the exact same side pocket. The place went crazy. So I went once more. Made a ball, ran to a miss, Mike ran out lol. Signed my cue ball "Nice break...twice! Jesus loves us. Mike Massey". At the time, this was pretty epic.

2) In APA masters, My teammate won the first match, so I had to play the best guy in the APA. Not mentioning any names, but I bet everyone can guess who I mean. Now everyone knows this guy is "the man" in that room. So lots of people came to watch. Playing the 8 ball part, he missed a ball at 2-2. I actually ran out the set on him. I played very fast, and made a jump 1-9 combo for the win. I was so pumped, it was probably the highest point in my pool career to that point. We ended up getting 5th that year.

3) In APA 8 ball singles this year, I finished 5th. That is way higher than I thought. To get the 5th spot, I had to beat a 3 time former champ. It was an epic hill-hill grind fest. I made a pretty awesome out at the end for the win. That was $1000 swing on that match. Most I ever won in a tourney.

Memorable Bad:

1) APA 9 ball singles. Playing another decent 9. Can't do anything right. I'm down 73-37 in a race to 75. I say, "well, I guess I just need to run a 4 pack for the win.". So I fly thru 3 racks like a machine. In the 4th rack, I make a ball and have a pretty easy out. I need like 4 balls. I'm shooting a *hanger* on the 4 ball. Right into the rail!!! He makes his 2 for the win. Missed the most epic comeback ever. Oh well. 33rd...grrr..

2) Lots of other total mental screwups at bad moments lol.

my most memorable so far would be going to vegas for the 1st time last year.

i am a 5 and faced another 5. i won 38-4 in my 1st match skunking my opponent 20 -0 and we won the match 52-48 after being down 48-32. my 1st ever skunk and it happened at my 1st ever appearance at the nationals. how unbelievable is that?

2nd most memorable ..not pool related but made possible by playing pool at the nationals was visiting hoover dam and the grand canyon while i was out there. i was just awestruck by the beauty and the magnitude of the grand canyon. hoover dam had to have been quite an engineering feat back when it was built. probably never would have been able afford visiting those places without going to the apa nationals.

not so good experiences would be me being called a hustler a few times in my younger bar hopping days and having to get out of those situations .

I missed out on a lot of pool in my life. I don't have a lot of exciting stories of great gambling victories or of snapping off a big tourney or anything like that.

I'm really just now getting going when it comes to competing in some of the bigger amateur events. When I started playing pool I sort of avoided playing in all the different leagues because it seemed like all the "real" players avoided them. Looking back I realize now that I really missed out. I now think that the bigger regional amateur events are great for your game. But anyways...

In the past year I've been on two teams that won a couple of nice events. We won the Indiana State ACS title and just a couple of weeks ago we won the Masters division of the VNEA here in Michigan. Those were pretty fun and it was even more fun because I got to experience these victories as part of a team.

But if you really want to know what's been the greatest experience of my pool playing life it would have to be last year when I whitewashed Mr. Nick Varner in a challenge match. There wasn't much on the line. It wasn't a high stakes gambling match. It wasn't the finals of some big tournament. It wasn't even in a tournament at all. Heck, it was "just" on a bar table after all. But I talked a little trash to the guy taking the cash and I said "I could beat him." To which he replied something like "Well, nobody has beaten him yet this weekend."

So long story short I beat him 4-0 and he didn't even pocket a ball against me. So, not that I'm keeping track or anything but lifetime balls pocketed between little old BasementDwelller and Nick Varner is as follows:

BasementDweller: 32
Nick Varner: 0

And --NO-- I'm not looking for a rematch anytime soon. I might just take that to the grave with me.

Back when i was a low c player, I beat a b+ tournament player badly...after about a dozen beers, and he had about 3. Took him 5 out of 7 games, and my last 8 ball shot was a kick to the 8, off one of his balls into the side, just the whole time I felt like I couldn't miss. But looking back he was probably playing much worse than he normally does, because he missed several easy shots..oh well

Most memorable for me was my first tournament win, it was a 9 ball tourney (first 9 ball tourney I ever played in). Nothing special about the tournament, weekly 9 ball event with about 15 players, short races. What made it special was that I beat the person that was showing me how to play back in the day, I defeated him in the driver's seat match and in the Finals.
My other favorite moment was meeting Jeanette Lee and SVB, also being able to play against the two of them.

For me, the best were times spent with friends either in the pool hall or on road trips. I've made some decent scores and beat some "pro" players in a short race, BUT the best was being my buddy's cornerman at the IPT event at the Venetian in Vegas. Good times and some of my best memories. Now that I'm older with responsibilities and all that nonsense, I wonder if I'll have times like that again?

First year owning a pool hall and it was tuff. My daughter was turning12 and I just did not have any money to buy her a gift. I gave her a cue out the pro shop and she didnt want it ,she cried an said daddy you got to sell that stick i don't want nothing . i told her one cue couldn't make a diffrence , she just turned 20 and she still got that cue..

As a player...making an exceptionally thin cut and going three rails for shape to hit a window of roughly two to three inches on the 8 ball...under the pressure of the final championship match (hill/hill) of a big money tournament I was in. My opponent had three balls left and would have been out had I missed.

Also, winning the 8-on-the-break competition in Vegas at the APA championships many years ago, while Johnny Archer and his friend stood by watching, and placed bets on the other four finalists and myself. (Johnny was betting on me.) As a side note, he remembered my name quite a few years later when I ran into him at Marietta Billiards Club.

As a fan, it's hard to pick one out. Meeting pros like Johnny, Nick Varner, Mike Sigel, etc. I enjoyed watching the rowdy crowd of young pros running around last year in Tunica at 2 in the morning and then having a break speed competition that lasted for another two hours to the wee hours of the morning on one of the vendors' tables outside the green room.
