what are these cue sellers talking about?

You have inspired me to once again offer, on a limited basis only, my new and improved cue tip that is made of 17 laminated layers of the left butt cheek of a red marmoset. My proprietary salt curing process makes the playing characteristics of this tip unparalleled in terms of accuracy and quality. Additionally, this tip is on the bleeding edge of scientific advancement, as I have incorporated the latest wireless technology to enhance user experience. Let me tell you that no only does it play great, but it tastes great as well! What more can you ask for? To make this more attractive to prospective buyers, it is attractively priced at a mere $10 for the tip plus $299.99 for shipping and handling, which includes packaging in a teriyaki/brine solution and vacuum sealed for freshness.

Watch for more outstanding new products that include my new G-Spot Series Ultra Supremo Marvelito Anti-Gravity laminated shaft line. They are ribbed for pleasure and best of all, they are Kosher! Pricing to be determined...

Actually, the cue pictured here does hit "like a ton". It was made by the Wun-hung-lo Cue Company of Bejing. This particular cue has a straight taper shaft with what the company calls it's "natural finish".

My cue shot "lights out" once. I forgot to put the BS on the tip and tried to "hit a ton" with an open bridge. BANG!

I would imagine that a specialized shaft, with a Kamoori tip, and Balabushka chalk must hit 2 tons.. or at least 4400 lbs worth of hit. With that kind of hit you should be able to draw a 14 rail draw shot. Make 6-7 balls consistantly on the break and run 375 everytime you step up to the table.

Just a guess...

Hmmm, the more I think about this, the more I believe that it would be more fair to cue buyers if sellers would just charge by the pound of hit needed. I mean, if I am really strong and have a good stroke, then it is totally unfair for me to have to pay for a full ton worth of hit when I really only require, say 65%, or 1300 lbs worth of hit. It is only common sense, really.

I get a kick out of the phrase...taper roll..yeah its warped!
lets minimize that fact with it has a slight taper roll..who would
of thought..these guys must all be used car sales men..those
guys crack me up too..
I could careless about the joint too..tip,who cares..if I like
how the cue feels..I'll put a triangle on it..an hit a ton.
Imo there is not one tip better then the other for most
that play..more often then not its just some thing to talk about.
some one could make a shaft out of popular,an others would
never know it..its just that smiple.
oh..well..it too hits a ton..lol.

If more people would take this approach, the Wanted / For Sale section
would be greatly improved, and the same old regurgitated dried dog $hit
of:

GLWS
"if it only had a (fill in the blank) I'd be all over it
This cue used to be mine
etc

I don't have any complaints with your views. But when a seller lists a cue and nobody comments, they often are disheartened by the lack of response. On occasion, I'll comment if I think a cue is particularly to my liking. If the AZB community agrees, I would be happy not to comment in the future.

For me, "fill in the blank" is "job". :frown:

I like a man who does his research, well done. I had just intended on making some lighthearted fun of the phrase "hits a ton", whatever that means. Does your cue hit a ton?
Ya ,I know you were just joking around and so was I but I know
on the computer it can come across as something totally different.
The way I look at it,my cue hits a ton when I win but when I lose,
its hits like a ton of sh-t.

You've left out the single most overused word to describe a cue stick: Monster

I swear if I see one more Monster cue that hits a ton and shoots lights out, I'm gonna lose it.

I was hoping someone else would realize that ...lol

That is a whole thread by itself, what makes a cue a MONSTER...? Is it the looks or the value? If its the value then are the Searing house cue conversions MONSTER cues ... More often than not, when the MONSTER bomb is dropped its used out of context. Thats not a bad idea for a thread really, definition of a MONSTER cue. Lots of people would definitely have different opinions.

I would say cues like this Manzino of tikklers would be in that category

What a beautiful cue, yeah I agree - Monster in looks, I hope it plays like that also. It truly itches in my fingers to take all those beautiful cues out and try them:).
Some of the nicest looking cues I guess don´t play as nice and I guess the maker didn´t make them to play with either, more of artpieces but to my knowledge some makers can make some beautiful masterpieces and they still makes sure that they will play as good also. I like that:).

Hit, well it´s a subjective thing but for me Hit´s a ton, plays like a monster etc is a cue that is rather stiff, that gives you the "same"/what you want whenever you shoot in form of squirt, spin (consistent) etc, have a slightly forward-balance and that the balance (woods) is evenly distributed. 12,75 mm solid shafts with rather low squirt (for me it seems that a short ferrule will do it) and a butt that is around 1.25 or close.
That is a Monster, Hit´s a ton kind of cue:)

have a real nice day everybody, I will:)!

I disagree.
What better way to beat the Ghost with than a Monster?

meow.

It is a stick used to poke a small round ball. You are not going to poke a bear with it.

How is this any different than any other person selling something? Obviously you want the product to be desired or else nobody would buy it. Yeah Monster, taper roll and hits a ton are funny but I feel like its par for the course.

I just thought of another one: "fancy sneaky". I mean, what the hell is that? Is that kinda like the tallest midget or something???

Billiards Digest had a column on the monster cue of the month... I let my subscription lapse, so I don't know if they still do.

And, yes, that Manzino is quite a beautiful cue stick.
