What Cue has the best hitting sound ???

I am a Billiard Player for which the sound is very important when i play.

In the past i played with different Cues. They had different sounds. I prefered some sounds to others and like a significant one described a little bit as broad and not too low.

Now my question. Which Cue makes the best sounds for you. Is it a special wood, the joint, the tip, a special cuemaker etc ???
What kind of experiences did you made ???
What was the best hitting sound of a cue you had ???
And how important is the sound for you ???

thanks

My favorite sounding cue

Cues vary due to many factors, so much so that it could be argued that no two sound the same. For what it is worth, my preference for the best sounding cue is made by Jim Buss. Straight maple forearm and piloted steele joint. It reminds me of hitting a 2X4 on its end...solid yet not overly stiff. The only other cue I have played that was similar, was a Balabushka titlist.

Great answer, I can't remember a cue having a cleaner hit then my old Bushka. I'm trying to think of a cue I have now that is similar and the closest I can think of is my plain maple Tad. That's about it.

I would have to add my .02 for what it is worth. The harmonics produced by a shaft will change by the type of ferrule and tip combonation you have on it. FYI... Areial Carmelli is the only maker I know of that chooses his shafts by the way the blank sounds when it is tapped on the ground.

I think Dennis Dieckman also tries to achieve a certain harmonic in his cue. He talks about it on his website.

It is in section 1 of his philosophy

Schuler, Dieckman, and Lambros designed their cues for the discriminating taste of billiard players, who value the sound of the cue moreseo than pool players, I believe.

That's my answer for all of your questions.

Bingo, Pete's cues do have a sweet clean hit. Balabushka like.

I must agree, if you want a cue that hits and sounds like a Balabushka no one today can build one better than Pete Tascarella!!

I have always bought my cus from the sounds of the hit. It started with Black Boars, then Phillippe, Scruggs, Richard Black, and lastly my current player a Schon that hits about 95% of my finest cue a Rosewood Black Boar. It sounds like hitting 2 ballpeen hammers together. Ivory ferrules helped also.
I'm not sure of the "why" but when I sold cues I would dry hit EVERY one to listen to the hit. My favorites were always piloted SS joint, ivory ferrule.

i took out a bushka tonight a very earily 60 according to pete t. it sounded amazing its lazer straight, wow. It was the first time i hit balls with it, I'm used to my B Szam so I missed a few balls with the Bushka, but it sounded nice, all the Szams sound/feel great,

on a side note I have several sw's and because of the differerent woods they use they all sound a bit different, i have a 60" macasser ebony with tulip wood points that makes a "Ping" sound, my ebony/ivory has more of a thud, but they all sound good, i like any cue i can hear and feel.

I completely understand that there are way too many factors involved to make a fair comparison...

However, out of all of the cues that I have owned, (cue whore) the best sounding cue was not one of the more expensive cues... It was a Bill McDaniel - Rosewood Sneaky...
