What do you do if...

And I call people like you whiners. I actually never quit playing someone after one set. I always play atleast a second set (whether I lost the first one or won it). And actually, I'm 18 years old, so playing in a casino is not really an option. But I am smart enough to know that slot machines are basically for chumps. If you want to make some real money at a casino, then you go to a poker table. I really don't see how quitting while I'm ahead caused you to think I'm the type of person that would "play nickel slots 1 nickel at a time." Like I said in my first post in this thread, if I'm about to leave, I always tell whomever I'm playing that this is my last set or something like that. And, exactly how is leaving while you're up "like making out with your brother"? I bet every time you go to a casino, you lose more money than you expected.

ugh nevermind you dont get it. forget i said anything. have a great day

I have no problem paying... ive always paid even though i feel like im being moved on... just thought it was a real nitty thing to do especially after only two sets

IMO, yes you have to pay. Bad behavior doesn't mean he doesn't deserve his money. A bet is a bet, regardless of how classless he acts. It is common courtesy to mention last 2 or last hour. But, in reality, he can do whatever he wants. I guess, the more important question is how big you guys were playing. If took $1000 from you and left without giving you a chance, well then yeah, he's a douche and probably will never want to play him again. If he took $100, then it's really not that much, and he may have more important things to do then offer you a chance to get it back.

You said you always pay, so I won't beat the subject, and I assume you are only emphasizing the point by asking whether or not you have to pay, but the obvious answer to that question is of course you have to pay because you lost the bet. People seem to have differing opinions about quiting winner, and for some it is an unspoken truth. I personally think a person has every right to quit after they win, but shoulg give someone a reasonable chance to bet again. Two to three sets seems plentyl to me though. I am not just going play double or nothing with someone until they win. However, because some people have preconceived ideas about it, I think it is wise and classy to establish that you can or only will play a certain number of games. AS afather of 3 children under 5 y/o, time would certainly come into play for me. I would just have to let the person know that was the case before I started.

Maybe I am just "old school" but where I am from, you play until the loser quits, the pool room closes, or you reach a predetermined time limit, or a predetermined dollar figure...

I don't think you ever have the right to not pay. That being said "good action" is someone who communicates. I someone pulls up after two sets when I thought I was gonna do battle all night I'd be annoyed but I'm still gonna pay up. At the same time If I play a couple sets and happen to win I shouldn't have to stay at the hall for 36 hours just cuz my opponent doesn't want to quit. Davidhop posted "predetermined" which is a good point. Good action always communicates time frame, dollar figure and simular.

On a sidenote---If I don't like someone's action I don't play them anymore...It's not worth it.

I have a question for those of you who think the guy shouldn't have quit. If his cell phone rang in the middle of a set, he said he had an emergency and had to leave, and paid you for the set but still left a winner, would you have a problem with that?

What if he quit after playing until you won your money back?
Would you still be calling him a nit because he didn't give you a chance to WIN money?

I wonder how much money you didn't lose because he quit you?

Why is it that players are NITS when they quit when they are Winners? Maybe this is just the perspective of the losers?

are you serious? yes i will never walk out on somebody that i have stuck. even if i risk losing i will still play and if i end up loser then i choose when i have had enough. i said it exactly the way i wanted it. play til the person who is down is done. the one exception is if someone is being offensive and or gets physical. agree to a determined number of set are you for real? this is how i go about gambling and it works for me. set an amount in my head im comfortable losing. play til you get there, or bust the mofo.

What if you have to take a sh.it real bad or you develop a pinched nerve on your neck or your feet become horribly uncomfortable or you get a call that your buddy is having a suprise bachelor party or you have a job...

THe original post seemed to infer he is gonna see the dude again. You continue later.

Play ends when on or more of the players ceases to play. Whether you are winner or loser, it is your fault that you are winner or loser

I'm of the mind that it doesn't matter when you quit...the end of the set is the end of the bet (unless there was PRIOR communication between both players...not just an ASSUMPTION that they would keep playing). For my money, the OP probably was not playing for either of those amounts, but something much smaller. However, the size of the bet means nothing, imo. It's all about what was said before they started that matters.

I always establish a general time frame or number of sets in advance. I physically cannot play as long as an 20 year-old so when it's time to hit the hay that's what I'm gonna do. If there was no previous agreement I call out last 2 sets.

i call people like you hit and run's. you will only lose one set and you're done. and if you get up one or two sets you bounce before your heart runs out. you prolly go to a casino and play nickel slots 1 nickel at a time to huh? if you know you are only gonna play a couple sets let em know beforehand so they dont waste their time. quitting winner is like making out with your brother.... wrong on so many levels

Im not trying to be rude here, but if you are gambling, you have to be prepared to lose. If I am up 50 bucks, and you are trying to hustle me and I figure that out, Im outta here, pay up! Im not gonna stay and play just to give you some of my cash. You can say we dont get it, but I do get it. Your way of thinking has cost me and other people some good winnings. I dont gamble anymore, but I used to, and I remember times where I would be up 30 or 40 bucks, and feel like quitting, but instead I kept on playing and ended up paying 20 or 30. If I am gambling, I will quit whenever I feel like it, and if the other guy has a problem with that, oh well. Its my cash, my debt, and my decision. Thats why its called gambling, and not winning. Good luck with your gambling.
