What do you guys do when you get carded?

People here don't get carded unless they're ordering alcohol. If people seventeen or under are going into a pub for a few frames of pool and a Coke or two, there's no problem.

I'm 26, but I still do get asked for ID occasionally.

What’s worse than having to ask for the senior discount at Dunkin’ Donuts?

Getting it without asking for it.

Jamie, enjoy your blissfully unaware youth while you can. It will be gone before you realize it’s gone. Appreciate it. Quit sweating the small stuff. Enjoy the ride.

7AM?? Most bars that are open at that time are only frequented by alcoholics, not pool players. Most don't even have pool tables.

Are you sure you're on the right forum?
A few bars with horrible tables open at 7 am. What do you expect me to do when I am up at that hour?

There are may reasons for you to carry ID at all times. As an example, if you go out alone and have a serious health incident (stroke, heart attack, seizure, etc.) and are rushed to a hospital, how will they identify you? If they can't identify you, how will they pull your medical records and history in tying to determine what course of treatment is safe? How will they notify your loved ones that you've been hospitalized? In that scenario, failing to carry ID could cost you your life.

As already noted in this thread, some places card you no matter what you look like. Several years back, I was asked for proof of age when I ordered a drink in the bar at the airport in Charlotte, NC. The thing is that I was 58!
So on an android phone if you have your phone locked you press emergency call. Then in the top it will say view emergency information. Then you tap that and tap again to view it. And in there I have all my info like name meds I am on meds I am alergic to and people who you can contact. Since it is a phone you can call them from the phone itself. All while being locked. Lets just hope the EMTs are trained on where to look in a phone.

As long as you always carry your phone, take a picture of your driver's license and store it on your phone and that should suffice as ID.

LOL I always have my phone. But i am not sure it works that way but I will ask. But also I do not want that info on my phone in the form of a picture.

I don't know about the US, but that won't fly in Europe, at least not at places who value their license to sell alcohol. Also, in case of emergencies, phones break and run out of battery. Is it really so hard to carry paper ID? Nobody is going to fix your phone to find out your identity when you're unconscious. If they do, it will probably be too late to save you.

In america our ID's are printed and hard plastic. Like a credit card.

Plus there is no way I’m gonna unlock my phone to show a picture to a cop.

In my town they take your driver's license when they hand you the balls and hand it back when you pay your table time and return the balls. One reason I play mostly at home. What happens if they give my driver's license to someone else?

Honestly, never thought of that. But then, I go where I'm known. Dunno what I'd do if the situation happened to me. I don't let credit cards out of my sight & feel the same about my license. Maybe hand money to the counter guy, say he can take it out of that when I'm done? Might work...

In my town, B'ham Alabama Roll Tide, to get a rack of balls you hand over a $5 bill for any one of about 26 well-maintained Diamond 7'er's, or $10 for one of about 10 well-maintained Diamond 9'er's, and that's for all day till closing. We also have Poppa G's just a few miles south in Pelham, not as many tables but well-maintained and maybe a couple bucks more. Both are great places with great folks working.
If either one asked me to leave my DL or credit card I'd just walk out. Plenty of bars with Valley's that take quarters.

PS - Iron City Billiards is the 1st place I mentioned. Forgot to name it! lol

There are states that require the bar tender to check your ID as they deliver EACH drink. 5 drinks = 5 ID checks--state law.

Even after your hair has turned white along with your mustache and you look the "on social security" part.
74 here and get carded at the food store for a 6pak in Florida. I'm honored. Funny...got carded then...getting carded now. I'm speechless.

I wonder if the other parties in these interactions start corresponding threads on service-industry forums...

laime_jion from South Dakota asks the azbartending online-community:

“What do you do when a guy walks in at 7am to play pool, orders nothing, and runs away when you card him?”
