What female figure do you respect the most in this sport?

Monica Webb. She says what's on her mind and doesn't sugar coat it. She plays all games well, and ain't t bad looking either  . Johnnyt

For me its Jean Balukas, Allison Fisher, and Moncia Webb. Jean, because she happens to be a personal friend of mine and probably one of the best players (man or woman) I ever seen play. Allison, because her consistency and excellence in performance year after year. Monica, because she never backed down and persisted, regarless of the odds, to eventually attain a championship which she has accomplished this year.

Allison left her country and switched cuesports to pursue a living

You could say the same about Karen but Allison was the first

In stark contrast, almost all the top men have virtually ignored the pursuit of the millions previously available in male snooker

Who??

Jean Balukas

Alive or dead, active or retired, for skill or longevity...looks, whatever.

To this day, know knowing about Jean Balukas then, and Jasmin Ouschan now, it is still Allison Fisher. I think she was the first professional I ever saw on television, or even heard of before I decided to commit to playing seriously. At least at that time she was feared as much as she was respected.

I'm not sure where her game is now, but I've heard (dunno if it's true, though) out of any singular professional team or athlete, she has held a Number One title the longest.

If you haven't seen this video, well, it sums it up.

fair play to allison for doing what she did, but why shouldn't the men ignore the money in snooker?

Maybe they love the game of pool?

I've gotta throw in another vote for 'Queen Jean.. the greatest that ever was'. She just didn't know how to lose. She is a born champion and was one of the greatest players to ever wield a cue. I only wish that she played in a time where there was more videos shot of her playing.

My second choice would have to be Allison Fisher. She has always been a true champion and a great icon of the pool world. Both her skills and character have forever helped our sport. She is definitely an inspiration to all that will follow in her footsteps.

I met Peg for the first time a few months back at JOB's in Madison, Tn.
She is running their BCA leauge now. I had aquired an old program from a tournament in LA 1992 I think was the year. Anyhow someone had filled out the bracket sheets from start to finish and it showed Peg winning. I gave the program and bracket sheet to her and she was very appreciative of it. Come to find out it was the last major tournament she had won. I think she planned on framing them.

ALLISON FISHER, the epitome of class! A great player and an equally great person.

She is my 2nd choice on consistency alone. Her and Karen Corr are reasons why I don't understand how male and female players aren't in one pool.

I've found this to be odd because it's an equal playing field like professional bass fishing which women are open to.

Now I have a question. In a Pro Open can women play?

She has a beautiful long, powerful stroke, hit's the balls with authority, and crushes the balls on the break.

I wish more people could have seen Jean Balukus play. She had an incredible stroke, and the heart of a lion.

Female figure-wise, I'd have to say Shanelle Lorain

I'm with Jay

I completely agree Jay! She's a class act both on & off the felt and very personable. I was fortunate enough to have a booth set up right next to her booth during the '08 APA NTC's in Vegas. I had a blast hanging out with her & Kristi Carter during the 10-day event. Boy can she draw a crowd! She's great and funny too!

Considering the word "Figure" in the thread title, I would have bet all my v-cash Shanelle's name would appear before post #33. In respect to the many other excellent posts, I'll pass on posting any of Shanelle's pictures.

Now if the question were, "what Woman poolplayer do I hold in the highest regard?"

Jean.

She's just badass.

There are a number of women to admire in this sport.

I give a lot of credit to Karen Corr for over and over again and without a lot of fanfare bellying up to the table in open tournaments like the Joss tour, etc.

We forget that 8 or 10 years ago we had a number of discussions about how the top women might fare against the men. A number of the opinions expressed back then have now been silenced.

This one is easy for me!

Melinda Bailey! (akatrigger)

Not only does she do my website, but she absolutely devotes herself to pool.

She, along with a few other very special ladies, completely run the OBCues Ladies 9 Ball Tour.

She has donated her time and money for good causes to help not only pool, but other people in need too.

She is a Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, so she really helps everybody!

And best of all, she is the best Scotch Doubles partner, period!

Thanks and Merry Christmas to Melinda!

You are too kind, Royce, but your post means a lot to me. I like to help people and pool is my passion - and so they cross paths. :)

Merry Christmas, Royce! (now, step up your game, scotch doubles partner!)
