What Games or Pro Sports Pay less than pool?

Also its been a while but last time i checked the SCRABBLE world championships pays 150K$ its't that a bummer
I wonder what 50th place in pro SCRABBLE paid :grin:
Our top pro curlers make in the $100K range as a team of 4 ... I have no idea what the median earnings for the top 50 would be ... maybe $10K ? I do know that there are very few (less than 10 ???) who play the game to make their living.

As it should be. They are amateur athletes. Or at least they're supposed to be. But that's obviously gone by the wayside over the last 20 years or so.
Professional Starcraft players outside of Korea probably make less than professional pool players, but the top players in Korea can make $300K+ a year.
If you consider skill level compared to others that played the game to be "professional", I was a professional Initial D Arcade Stage player and I probably made less than $300 in tournaments throught my whole career. LOL.

So, it's evident that the folks making the most money in this industry are the beer producers; with the most sales on league night. Why don't we have 'bud' on the lights anymore?
Comparably paid athletes include golfers on the various mini tours, where $50-100,000 tournaments are the norm (First might pay 15-20K). Also tennis players on the Challenger tours where purses are typically in the $25-50,000 range (First might pay 5-10K). The Nationwide tour for golfers is definitely a big step up, with 100K first prizes the norm and top earners making 200-400K a year.
In International table tennis, the big events pay like a mid sized pool tournament, with the winner getting in the neighborhood of $10,000. Second level rodeo events also pay four figure prizes to the winners. Big time rodeo pays a LOT more! Regional auto racing also has similar four and five figure pay outs, but with much bigger expenditures. Same for regional competitions in snow skiiing, moto-cross, BMX bikes, skateboarding and motorcycle racing. These guys may win/earn similar money to a top level pool player. At the highest level these sports do pay more, with top skiers and bike racers earning healthy six figure incomes.
So you see, there are many athletes in the same situation as pool players, trying to make due with less. Actually the top pool players do make six figure incomes, with their endorsements and appearance money. They may be well paid for personal appearances/exhibitions as well, anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500 a day! Plus giving $100 an hour lessons is commonplace for name pros, with group deals also offering them some nice added income.
It's true they aren't getting rich, but some of the smart ones have invested their money wisely and aren't doing too bad. I can tell you for sure that some big name pool players (even a couple of young ones) already have healthy bank accounts. There are actually some players who prefer not to give their winnings to the casinos!
Then there's Jeanette! She does quite well for herself, well beyond what other pool players make. How about 10K a day for a personal appearance? The Black Widow is in a class by herself for pool players. Ewa might be second to her with all the top men a distant third. And that's how life is! :thumbup:

With the distance record standing at an astounding 820' (thrown by Sandstrom in 2002), I believe that people's perspectives of what a long throw really is has gotten fairly skewed. The majority of the longest throws since Stokely's 656' throw in 1995 have been very wind assisted, in areas that often had 15-35 MPH winds to catch as well as other factors such as altitude, thermal updrafts, etc. In fact, the five longest throws of all time (820', 810', 761', 748', and 738') were all performed on the same day and 16 of the 18 longest throws of all time have all been performed at the same location.
I'd be curious to know what the longest Aerobie throw is? These things will sail forever! I just found out, it's 1,333 feet, or about a quarter of a mile!

I had to google aerobie, lol. That's one long toss! I should get one and bring it out to the disc course someday. One toss with it, and my gambling buddies will ban it fo sho!
You can buy them at any sporting goods store. Much more fun than a frisbie. An average Joe (like me) can easily toss one 150-200 yards. And it's easy to make it fly flat and level. By far the best flying discs ever made. You need a big open area to play with them.
Those players made a ton of money. Every player new who or which team was going to win. I know this for sure as I have a good fried that played on the Miami-Tampa circuit. They practiced how to miss good more than how to catch
