What do yall think is the best pace to be currently for the pool scene. Either watching or playing?

Taking everything into consideration:
- geographically (is it close to major touraments, is a shit hole)
- is there a good tour there i.e. joss or mezz?
- is it good but of ronly a certain type of pool i.e. bar tables?

With that I would say your looking at either southern cal, since you have lots of good pool room, bunch of good competition and regular tour in the mezz. Only thing is its cali so no water, people are rude traffic is a nightmare and cost of living is high

Or Vegas. Has good pool rooms I hear, there is usually always bg action matches there i.e. TAr frost v alex. All the nationals are there BCA APA etc and US open events

maybe the north east somewhere since they have the joss and they are the closest to fly out to europe?

Did Justin pay you to post this question ? ??? Lol 😆. Seem to hear a lot about Houston and NOLA these days. Not sure about the tours.

And in Houston, a city I've never been to, they have loads of places to play three-cushion. They probably have more carom tables there than any other city in the US, NYC included.

Manila.

Jeepney fares are cheap & hustlers are everywhere before you even get to a pool room. It'll sharpen your senses.

The downside is you will likely lose weight unless you like to eat adobo/fish/dinuguan with rice...or Jollibee/Chowking.
:scratchhead:

Baltimore Area APA League is the largest in the country... so not there.

For an amateur player, tough to beat NYC area. The tournaments here are great.

-King of Castle bi weekly handicapped tournament, about $2000 to first place.
-Predator tour handicapped tour averages about 2 a month, about $1200 to first place on average.
-The Tri State Tour handicapped tour almost every weekend, about $1000 to first place.
-Weekly Monday night handicapped tournament at Steinway about $400 first place.

Always something to play in that pays pretty well.

A week ago Gotham Billiards added $4500 for a CD tournament, no entry fee $40 side pot. $2400/first place.

Sorry sir, but who could possibly care about the lack of carom tables?..The only reason Houston may have so many tables, is the proximity to Mexico!..One of the few countries that still play billiards!

Def. Not in B More. They won't bet on the name on their own drivers license.

There Def I'd action in Bmore, with some betting sky high. If you limit your comment to APA though I would agree, those folks around here will not bet water is wet. Not a bash on APA, because as I have said in the past I actually like the APA for various reasons but just stating the truth.

EXACTLY! APA 7s act like they've never heard of gambling

Denver area is pretty good plus legal pot, world class cue makers and I'm here.
What more could you want?

I tend to think, either Phx. AZ, or Las Vegas, NEV. would be the ideal places for a really active pool player to settle down!..They are fairly close to each other, (and also close to SO.CAL) and always seem to offer good, well run tournaments, and consistent high $$$ action matches!

PS..Don't you suppose thats why Scott Frost and Mark Griffin chose those locations for their new upscale rooms? ;)

People are rude in California? I grew up in Philly and have lived in Boston, Florida, Hawaii, San Diego, the Bay area, and Santa Barbara. Rude is a way of life on the east coast. Not in California.

Bad traffic in CA?? In LA & SF yes, but I'd happily take my chances skirting SoCal traffic in the sunshine rather than DC-area or NYC-area traffic in the snow.

No water in CA??? Pool players don't drink water, they drink beer. Why is this a problem?

Having been to many rooms and tourneys across the country I'd have to say that the Ventura, CA area should be high up on the list of cities to live in for pool. High cost of living for sure but Ventura is significantly less expensive than a lot of CA coastal cities. In Ventura you are close to the Mezz tour, the Swanee, Vegas, tons of rooms with Diamond tables, a huge APA league presence, and of course the best BCAPL league in the world just 30 min north on the 101
