OK ... perhaps that is a bit to much candor and honesty about how I feel.
I apologize.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I knew that was your opinion before you gave it. I happen to disagree and life goes on regardless of each our opinions.

Well I've been here since 2004 (lurked for a couple before that). I prefer to read more than post. The attached has got to be Top 10 of all the posts I've read in 5 plus years. Well said.

What a (not unexpected) train wreck. As a former operator of chat rooms and message boreds, IMHO, I see in this thread less understanding of a site's management than is deserving. As a site becomes more popular, much individuality is lost, stories get 3 sided, egos get bruised, regulars hammer their side onto management and by NECESSITY, management must alter their SOP. The dynamics require enforcement when the crowd gets unhappy. Unfortunately, then the "C" word gets bandied about (censorship, not the other, lol).

But hey - YOU try keeping everyone happy on a site with hundreds of people posting regularly. It drives you friggin' nuts, I promise you. And at some point when you hear 10 regulars saying "so-&-so" has made their experience here intolerable - and you do your honest best to make peace and rein in "so-&-so" - but still more riots are incited... Hey, for the best of the site, there comes a time when so-&-so must go, no matter how big (or small) the swingin' d**k may appear to be. Maybe the 10 complainers are being feeble and weak, regardless, for the sanity and for the benefit of all...

My experience shows that often times the "strife-makers" have lost some critical perspective and abused common courtesy. It's made all too easy behind their anominity.

Everybody can have an opinion as to when and where to draw the line, there is no hard and fast rule. But, unless you've been behind the curtain, it's difficult to know how you'd respond in their position.

Peace,

Matt < slides 2 cents over to reasonable site operators

I am an expert pollster. I travel all over the Southeast collecting data for my "Would You Rather" polls.

Countless hours and thousands of dollars of my own money are spent doing this. At the time of this post I'm still without a sponsor.

He has loads of knowledge and shares it freely. If he weren't such a massive ***** I would respect him for that.

AS LONG AS YOU'RE USING "KNOWLEDGE" AS ANOTHER WORD FOR "OPINION"

YOUR POST SHOULD READ....."HE HAS LOADS OF OPINION, AND SHARES IT FREELY"

Well, he has both a ton of knowledge and a ton of opinions. And he shares both.

Ditto with John Barton. Tons of knowledge and tons of opinions. And he shares them both.

Punter, WHY have you never offered the story of your avatar? It is a truly fascinating story. Shame on you for keeping such a story, so quiet.
Thanks for the tip.

JoeyA

The avatar is Stu "The Kid" Ungar. There is very little argument that he was the greatest Gin Rummy player who ever lived. He didn't just beat the other 'great' players, he crushed them. When all of his gin action dried up, he turned to poker, where he entered and won the main event of the WSOP the first two years he played in it(1980, 1981). In later years, he fell into drug abuse. He returned to win the WSOP main event for a third time in 1997. He couldn't escape his demons though, and died a couple of years later, drugs almost certainly a contributing cause at the age of 45.

A biography on Stu:

One of a Kind: The Rise and Fall of Stuey "The Kid" Ungar, The World's Greatest Poker Player by Nolan Dalla and Peter Alson. A good read.

i think he he died a few months(6 or 7) after he won the WSOP outside in the 110 july Vegas heat, as I remember. He was being staked in that event by Bob Stupac(SP?) It was tragic that he self destructed-he was fearless, beyond fearless and had a photographic memory.

I have read that book a few times, there is also a movie about him thats ok too. He is a ledgend for sure. Your right it is a good read. There is some good stuff on the internet about him, I have a friend who worked about 20 years at the Shoe for jack Binion and he has shared alot of great stories about Stu, Doyal Etc. Its a amazing piece of American history thats not really mainstream stuff, it is kinda heading that direction though with the poliforaction of poker.
