What is "jimbos army" ?

Internet drama at its finest  Here's a few of my thoughts after reading this threads 5 pages :

A lot of long posts by JCJB, he has a lot of opinions (don't we all), many having to do with Jimbo apparently

I think that in retrospect JR would not let JCJB anywhere near his website on April Fools day, that last episode kicked the bejeepers out of his forums hits (my guess) and posts (seen with my own eyes).

Some of these/those/dem guys have been yucking it up on the Internet for a dozen years or more, from what I've seen.

Not everyone who posts on Jimbo's board hold the same opinion on things like AZ Billiards, JCJB, etc., regardless of what some might think (it seems to me they are more concerned with drama than truth, but what-the-hey, it's the Internet, carry on).

Real raffles, real people.

Dave

My second wife is an only child and did not want to change her last name. I did not want her to hyphenate hers or mine. I offered to change my name to John Barton so she wouldn't have to change hers.

Now I have just gotten married again and you can call me John Huang now. :-)

JKCB

John, could you please change your last name to Wong ?
I can't pronounce Huang.

thanks,
Doug

Do yourself a favor. First, open your eyes. Then, try using your head.

No one is calling you a nazi. No one is calling any of the posters here a nazi. The term nAZi was coined as a way of describing the way this site can be, and for along time was ruled with an iron fist. Mods censored things that they deemd offensive. And while that may be a necessity, it must be done with a degree of latitude. What I mean is, what you find offensive I may find completely acceptible. So, who is to decide what's right and what's wrong?! The mods?? Well, Dave Wilson (a nice guy, don't get me wrong), has proven on several occassions that he finds certain things to be slightly more offensive than most other people might. The result was warnings, bans, deleted posts, deleted threads, etc.

THAT is why people began referring to this site as nAZi. No one was calling you a nazi. No one was calling members nazis, per se. The site was dubbed nAZi. Thats all.

Brian, I believe a better and more correct term here is "facist"...maybe you guys could start using "fAZist". I think it might be better and more to the point. "Nazi" is a term that many, many others throughout the world still hold in complete and utter disdain and it's just about right down there with many of the ethnic slangs and derogatory terms.

Just my thoughts. Maybe you or Jimbo could help drive the change over there and throw me a bone ($), like hopefully he did with his "design theft" heist of the US Army's logo. LOL   You guys take care.

Jimbo's Army is the latest incarnation of a group of people who like to hang out with Jim Brennan. Jim Brennan is a pool newsgroup veteran who is famous for has scathing statements to people he does not agree with. He is famous for going the extra mile to offend and calls it fun.

He was kicked off of AZB because he went too far for the moderators here. So he went to Inside Pool and got a forum section there named "Jimbo".

Jimbo and myself have had very public and bitter disagreements online. On April 1st this year I "took over" Jimbo's section of Inside Pool's forum for a day. After that a new website called Jimbo's Army was created where it's "under their control".

Jimbo's Army refers to the group of people who support him to the point that they declare themselves "soldiers" in the "army". Presumably to fight the "ignorance" and "censorship" at AZB which they call nAZi.

This is where the issue of free speech comes up. I can however promise that if someone were to attack a cuemaker or other high profile visitor to Jimbo's Army in the same manner that Jimbo himself has attacked people over the years that he would in fact censor that person from doing so.

Basically Jimbo's Army is a splinter group of folks who started on other message boards and who prefer to hang out with each other. There are a host of other issues that they have but primarily it's with the censorship and politics that some feel are part of AZB.

And Jimbo's Army folks feel that they are far superior to the average AZB poster. They feel that AZB posters are on average quite idiotic and inane and that the quality of conversation here is far beneath the intellectual and intellegence level of their postings. This is quite evidenced in their negative comments concerning AZB.

Interstingly enough though a lot of their content is taken from AZB when their members scour AZ and repost the content.

So that's Jimbo's Army in my view.

Is there any way you can convince Bruce, (Cocobolo Cowboy) that this is the site he should be ranting on ? Why clog up AZB with his very insightful (sic) comments ?

no no no. see nAZi...has the AZ already in it. and Nazi Germany was a fascist state. besides, 'Fazist" doesn't work cause you spelled the word "fascist" wrong originally and that would be changing way too many letters. best to keep it simple and stick with nAZi.

and it wasn't design theft. it's was a "tribute" to the us army.

My most popular thread ever ( I guess ? ).... my apologies all.Geeze..I really had no idea.

....and I would not have bumped it if not just bumped otherwise.

You may be half jesting, but I think you make a good point.
Why don't you sign up? You can join the "army" with any rank. I made myself a Brigadier General. :) Well actually Dennis Dieckman made me a brigadier at Valley Forge, but that is a long funny story which wouldn't be funny in the retelling by me. You'll get the same $$$ as everybody else, nothing, even the commander-in-chief gets nothing. However, you would have the reward of instigating a change to use the new term "fAZist".
Jimbo is always looking for new recruits. I believe you may have had "differences" with him in the past, that doesn't matter. The UCJJ (Uniform Code of Jimbo Justice) is basically an empty book, so you can say what you like.
The few, the proud, the Jimbo Army. Oh oh, there I go again "advertising design theft".

Thanks for the offer, Steve, but I really only have time for involvement in one forum. Yes, may post was in jest but did try to make the point. Hope all you guys and gals over there take it easy. We're really all one big family.

And damn, totally can't believe that I've been misspelling "fascist" all these years. I really need to start using spell check to catch all my typos and stuff like this. :frown:

I went over to the IP Jimbo forum once. Jimbo was talking shit about Inzombiac claiming he begged for a free cue when one was being offered. I corrected him saying that I had suggested him to the cuemaker and Inzombiac never begged. He never apologized and never responded. He thinks he's entitled to massive levels of respect despite not giving an ounce to people he doesn't know. I definitely understand his humor and enjoyed a lot of the posts there but the lack of respect makes me DISrespect him. I haven't been to the new site for that reason.

Jim was a guy who often spoke his mind here. He didn't care about who he upset or pissed off. He said what he felt... a rather admirable quality.

Yeah, I used to do that also (saying what I felt) but all it ever got me was grief ... from Jimbo ... cause I disagreed with him and refused to bow down at his alter.
I called a spade a spade and I doubt anyone ever admired me for it.

MOST of the time it is better NOT to say what you feel.
You might feel differently the next day.

However, if you like the Don Rickel's style of public humiliation ... he is your guy.

Go to his forum and post that you disagree with him.
You will quickly find out.

Unless he has changed ... people do that.
