What is the deal with RSB?

It really isn't so bad, but you have to filter out Fast Larry and all his aliases. Most of my filters over there are FL's aliases and the others are people who refuse to ignore him and respond to his non-sensical posts.
It's content has deminished in recent years due to FL driving others away who just don't want to be bothered filtering or who use Google to access it and therefore can't filter.
BTW, my current filter list has 56 ids in it.

It seems that since Mr. Wilson has taken on the role of moderator, his words in black and white have a tendency to get misinterpreted and result in semantics.

Mr. Wilson is providing a service, which in reality is a very difficult task, but somebody has got to do it on AzBilliards to preserve the forum. He has stepped up to the plate and offered his assistance which deserves a little bit of gratitude. Thanks, Mr. Wilson!

That really isn't the whole story or a fair representation. That implies that everybody who post on RSB has no place else to go which is BS. The vast majority of posters on RSB are well-behaved though the boundarys of well-behaved differs from AZB's. The others (Fast Larry aliases for the most part) are easily filtered out. I don't think people who do only RSB dislike AZB or CCB, they just prefer the old fashion, text based newsgroup. It is much less computer/network intensive which anybody with a dialup really appreciates. Others prefer the wide open style of an unfettered usenet newsgroup. Some, like yours truly, like both for different reasons.

i found the link to RSB ...LOL still the same ..i have tried to understand for the past 2 years but cannot figure out Fast Larry ..why would a grown person/adult act the way he does ? why would he as a supposed businessman act so childish ? does he think this will bring in customers ? he was and still is a very good player ..he has greatly tarnished his ability to be a serious instructor.......

It's very hard to read without a filter. If you filter out Fast Larry and all his aliases, and the people who came over with him, and that guy that recently got banned from here, it's tolerable. One problem is that as long as Larry is there, it's unlikely new people will join because of exactly your experience. Try looking back two years or so in RSB, and as long as you skip the obnoxious idiots who would rather flame than inform, it wasn't bad.

In the thread titled www.socalpooltalk.com there are 13 posts including 4 by the original poster trying to defend himself. The rest of the posts are by Larry Grindinger and Drivermaker. None of the regulars in RSB has posted to that thread. Here are Larry's aliases in that thread:

The way I see it, people setting at home or in thier office, the net is an easy way to lash out, for thier own insucrurites.. I have found that I myself am differnt. I am exactly the same person on the net or off.. maybe this is my greatest setback, I admitt, Im pretty straightforward, alot of the time.

I tried to share my ideas on forum once, and it seemed there was always some jerk who just had to question every word I said, eventualy, due to the "drama" I deleted every word, every diagram everything, only a good friend of mine retained anything of value or at least valueable to me.. The plain truth is, if you want to express an idea, write a book, make a video for heavens sake do not try to share stuff on these forums.. nothing youd really stand for anyways...


Thats why Im on the bandwagon, I agree with everyone, anything, even if I do disagree I will do it oooooooo... So suttle.. The plain truth, this game is so complex but it seems so simple, the simple part of the game, now this is what everyone wants to talk about, when you try explaining the complex, this is when trouble starts, people know the simple inside and out, and I suppose The fear of feeling less inteligent Drives people to utterly destroy your very nature.. Satisfaction will only come untill you attend the bash. When they feel your on thier level then hey, a means to an end can come.. Otherwise, youd spend your whole life defending yourself..lol

I like it when people bash the pro's, you know good and well if that perticular pro showed up at your door step wanting an explaination they would turn to puddy... welll... never never land is a bit much for me these days, so if you have something out of the way to say to me, you'll proboly have to wait, I have to work, find time for the game, and my love life is definately more important than a bash...

I never thought I would filter out FL but recently I have to agree with you. Bill, on the other hand, I would never filter. People may or may not like him for his 'in your face' style but there is no doubt the guy has more knowledge of the game than 90% of the people here on AZ, myself included.
It's through this forum that we became friends so please understand if I don't sit idly back while you hit him knowing he can't hit back. I would expect you would do the same for someone you considered a friend.

It is not his style so much as the fact that he goes back and forth with Fast Larry. RSB has always been contientious and we are use to and often enjoy argumentative people. The only hope RSB has of ever getting rid of FL is by ignoring him. When people respond to him for sport or whatever reason as does DM, it just encourages him to post more, further diminishing the vitality of RSB.
I don't think you were around RSB before the arrival of the "disease" as some people call him. It was a very good NG with some very knowledgable people and some lively debates.

I don't need to PM on this. Of course there's reasoning. All you have to do is look at his posts. If you can't see it as abuse, then I can't reasonably explain it to you. Unless you are Fast Larry, then I have to believe you've been under a rock for the past couple of years as far as pool forums go. There's a reason why he gets banned from forums, and it's not about jealousy.

Ok Fred, point taken. I didn't know because I don't go to many fourms anymore. I don't see the abuse because I don't go there. The only forums I go to anymore is AZ and I stopped going to the CCB forums after Chris passed away. The under the rock comment wasn't necessary Fred, it really wasn't. Mabey I'm being too sensitive over some small stuff, but I personally don't think all of that was necessary. All you had to say was he that he abuses the fourms he goes too and gets banned because of it...period.

Fast Larry is a first rate lunatic, and you said you were becoming a fan of his. So, you must have read his drivel. It is a complete shock that anyone who has read his stuff would ever become a fan of his. That's why I responded as such.
