What is the Supposed Phenomena of Center to Edge Aiming?

If no one can explain it without requiring a $40 deposit first, the hairs on my neck start to stand up, and I have to question what is going on. Pool has been linked to hustling since it began, and this is starting to smell.

You should be able to explain the complete theory without needing money first. If it them seems to work, most would at that point not even think twice about spending money to learn in greater detail what others have to say, including me. I also shoot 3D archery, and there are many methods of shooting, and judging yardage, yet the top guys are more then happy to tell you how they do it. They have DVDs out too if you want to study it in detail. I have a shelf full of them.

I have no issues in paying $40 for something that is worth it. One has to question why you have to pay for a theory in order to hear the complete theory. The ghost ball method is explained in detail by everyone, and yet I bought the book, " the science of pocket billiards" by Jack Koehler for $30 back in 1990, to read in greater detail on that method. It's on my shelf with all the other pool books, including "Point the way" by the Monk, who I met in the early 90s when he walked into the pool hall where I worked. Grady Mathews and I played pool together for two hours once, discussing his theories while playing, and I have all his lessons on VHS, and plan on buying them on DVD, just to have them.

No disrespect, but I'm not a beginner, and pool was how I paid my rent for years. That's als why I left the game 20 years ago.

Someone explain how it's done, if they seem to be on to something, he will have my $40 by tomorrow.

No thanks, troll.

And before you respond with "What's a troll" or "I'm not a troll" or "I really want to learn the system" Just know that I won't be responding to anymore of your posts, because well, you're a troll and I'm not into wasting my time.

Speaking of things that smell fishy...you do.

20 years since you played and 5 posts in, you want to talk about whether CTE is worth 40$??

I hate liars and sneaks.

Laars...I asked what your name is. Why have an email like "bmarchant1@"??

Ciao

From what I understand, once the book comes out Stan will also be publishing the system in its entirety online. He has talked about that for some time, and it looks like it will be happening in conjunction with the book.

Mr. Wilson. First off, I am not Laars, I assure you. I'm wondering why you deleted what I thought was a light-hearted and to the point commentary on CTE (the one from this morning regarding Trump). It was not a political comment.

Please pm or otherwise so I can understand what I can post and what I cannot.

Man, just let it go..........

The trick is told when the trick is sold.
Nobody has any obligation to tell, explain, or show a thing to get you to buy something. There are plenty of youtube videos by Stan Shuffett showing this CTE stuff at work. In my opinion, that's more advertising than most deserve.
If you think it's "fishy"....then don't buy it.
At least you can back off with the knocking on something you don't understand or don't like because of thinking you 'smell a rat'. After all, you're coming across as a self-appointed crusader for what you may think is truth, justice, and the American way....(to quote the spiel from the old superman TV shows)
How about it? Just let it go...just let it go......PUH-LEEEEEZE.

I don't have the answer.
I am more interested in how many have tried it and quit.
I think one defender of the method has also quit using it .

When this method came out years ago, it was touted to be really simple.
People swore by it .
Then close to two decades later, it's actually gotten more complicated .
One or two or more have posted videos on youtube how "simple" the method is.
And it turns out they were not qualified to teach it and actually did the method all wrong .

And 10 years from now, I don't think this whole thing is going to get any simpler.
People are still going to go back and forth about the thing.

I had just started playing pool for a few months. I thought it'd be a good idea to try cte, right out the gate before I really knew any other way of aiming.

It took a long time to sort out whether my misses were because of cte or because of my stroke.

Every so often I'll get this urge to quit cte, and I'll try and learn ghost ball or fractional aiming or contact point aiming.

I think I'm too reliant on cte at this point despite the systems flaws.

So yeah, I've quit multiple times, but I always end up going back.

If you are truly interested in learning the system, then I only have 3 words for you.

Buy the DVD.

Then you can watch Stan's YouTube videos. Don't bother with John Barton's as they are worthless (no offense, John)

The DVD is $40, but if you can't shell out $40 on something you think will help your game, then you need a new hobby. Whether or not the money spent is a waste is entirely up to you. There are people that have learned and still use the system, and there are others that give up when they realize it's not a magic bullet.

No offense? How could you say that what I put up is worthless and then say you mean no offense.

Well maybe it's worthless to you but I have dozens of emails and pms from people thanking me for helping them to learn CTE. I always recommend Stan and other qualified instructors in my videos. I just try to explain what I know from my perspective and am clear to point out that I am by no means an instructor nor am I trying to teach any system in it's entirety.

I am a big fan of crowdsourcing solutions and in fact crowdsourcing has been proven to be very effective at figuring out many ways to attack a problem. So when I explain things from my perspective it does help some people to process the information they have gotten from Stan and others. Even where I might get something wrong someone else can catch it and point it out and thus I learn from them.

So yeah, I do take offense at your comment even if you meant none. I propose a duel at 20 paces :-)

JB is a strange duck to put it mildly, very mildly. However, I think he believes in what he is doing and I think his videos are helpful to other people trying to learn CTE.

His Jane Fonda work out video might be the one exception.

Pretty sure that ball-in-hand speed pool is clearly and undeniably aerobic and beneficial as a weight loss tool if done consistently.

At least the people who did it when I introduced it at SBE in the mid 2000s were sweating hard after a few reps.

Not nearly as strange as a person who spends so much time trying to knock people who are being helpful to the pool community.

For someone who claims not have a vendetta you start threads SPECIFICALLY to troll and incite animosity. You purposefully denigrate Stan and others who promote CTE using words like snake-oil and cult.

(yawn) too many "non-negotiables" from you, John.

I'm fine with it always being

Lou: 1
John: 0

Yep, knew exactly how you would respond. You don't have anyone willing to bet on you. Just another "story".

But even if you did it's perfectly clear that you have no heart and will take any excuse not to play.

And it's 1:1 in sets son. You're 2 games ahead of me overall. And whatever small of change you were left after the last match. You didn't have the balls to bet your own so I hope you made more than a $1000 as your tip from the match.

Hey St. Louis investors if you're real....talk to me directly if you really want a game to go off. Your boy here wants to just play head games. If you think you can actually get him to play then get with me and we will pick a date for a 10 ahead one pocket match and freeze up the whole stake in some way that we both agree on.

Now, I will tell you straight out so you don't think you're getting hustled. I don't think your boy can win. If I had 50k liquid I'd bet on myself. Now maybe I am being delusional or maybe I just know that I am the better player. But if you think otherwise and you can inject your boy with some heart to play on your money then let's do this.

OK (sigh), let me help you, again:

Lou: $10K
John: Nuthin'

No Lou, again you "won" a couple thousand. John - gained 6 months of great marketing, a bunch of new supportive friends, a lot of great stories from people who know you and can't stand you and invaluable experience in how to deal with a crew of hustler wannabes.

Your "backer" got the money and he is SCARED to bet on you again.

I beat your ass when I knew nothing about one pocket. Then you won when I played like a donkey. You're 2 games ahead of me.

And you're scared to death to get in the box again. I came here because YOU were barking your empty BS and a friend told me about it.

So son, the offer is St. Louis 10 ahead for 20k. You said you have the money, you said play in St. Louis so post the money if you have it. Or shut up and go shopping for some heart.

Well I got to watch the match finally ,, and yes your delusional its pretty clear who the better one pocket player is your best bet is to do what your doing and bet him high in hopes the money will shake him out of his game that's a typical move from players of lessor skill with deeper pockets
Player who knows thier better will play any game offered by the lessor player at every chance he gets

Then get him to post the money. Simple really. 20k isn't that much money these days. There are people in STL and every city and town in the USA who bet more that on a daily basis. If Lou really has people ready to bet then post the money.

I don't know how it gets any simpler than that.
