What is this cue? ($9k+ on eBay)

I can see your point. But that does not mean that Richard built them all exact. That one in Marcus's pics may have been made a little different. However, Mabye that is Richards copy to the real thing. That is likely also. I will say that I am sure if that money is real somebody knew what they were buying for 9,600... I believe the cue is a real Bushka...

Look, there are so many signs that it is a Richard Black and numerous telltale signs that it isn't a Bushka.

Here is a brief synopsis of the buyer...

Before yesterday... (_*_)........ after yesterday (_0_)

Any questions?

THANKS FOR MAKING ME SPIT MY DRINK OUT.

Hi bish. Obviously, we are all speculating right now, but it seemed to be not a Balabuskha for many reasons as fellow members pointed out:
1. Bumper not correct diameter (too small)
2. Pin wrong
3. nickel silver rings too thin
4. pretty obvious defect in semi-circles in butt sleeve (not aligned correctly)
5. boxes in butt sleeve too low (there are centered; Bushka's were closer to wrap)
6. wood in pilots on shafts looks awfully new (but could have been refinished)
7. patina not right (but could have been refinished)
8. notches in diamonds too long and thin
9. diamonds too high up in points
10 kind of unsual veneer combination
11. too much distance between points at wrap.
12 bumper screw is wrong.

Many, many reasons to think it is not a real Balabushka.

But who knows? I would love to find out it gets verified, then we can throw all of clues out the window! :)

IT'S A RICHARD BLACK PINNACLE. MADE BETWEEN 83 AND 85. HE MADE ABOUT 39 OF THESE CUES. IT WAS HIS WIFE'S FAVORITE DESIGN, SO HE BUILT THEM AS A LIMITED EDITION TRBUTE. IT'S THE CUE IN THE MIDDLE. EVEN HAS A BROWN BUSHKA-LIKE BUMPER

Wow, I mentioned Richard Black early in the first thread about this cue. Talk about things going full circle. RB apparently didn't sign his early cues. The problem now is who (other than the seller) would bid it up to $9600.00. Is this cue somehow worth that much? I hope so because I have a couple of Richard Black cues that may finally be worth something.

Hey Guys,
The cue isn't a Bushka.. Thats That..
Is there some possiblities.. Yes..
Black, Horn, Scruggs..
Either way the decimal point is on the wrong side plus a few bucks..
Either the buyer took a shot at a Bushka, or there was shill bidding trying to trap someone..
Hopefully the shill was at the top..
If not this is a KY special..
Best,
Ken

Oh MAN ..... I just spit tea all over myself.............. :D

That may just be the "size" of it Marcus........ arse bustin....:D :D
This is "Classic" classic..................

part of me hoped the buyer figured out that what he bought wasn't what they thought before they decided to send payment.....i think this one would be worth getting a negative on their ebay rating for sure! the "other" part of me thinks tough luck and chalk it up to a very expensive lesson ;)

I agree with the shill... the buyer has no history of anything even pool related, much less... a $10,000 cue.

If the winner was a shill, he sure saved the underbidder a lot of money.

shill??.........that changes my thoughts for sure...........
the buyers at the top had 50% and 65% bid history with the seller!I hope no one fell for it I think ken kerner hit it right with horn,I had one that was a exact match if not the same cue!and it sold as a horn for1750.00 shipped to ny! if it is a poor sucker or nascar guy i feel terrible for him! I was just talking to a poor guy who paid $11,500.00 for jim whites #10 cue! i call it theft! at almost 10,000 on spec is on this cue is either really foolish or shill! these horn were being sold by thieves as bushkas a few years back!

i agreed with you from day one...."That cue has issues" and now the buyer does, perhaps Richard Black was in on it.....

Looks like they were trying to trap someone. The pictures were just bad enough to leave hope that it might be a Bushka, and the description gave the impression it was an unknown out of a closet. A trapped buyer would have no recourse based on the description.

This is a fake sleeper that (from the looks of the buyer's feedback) got bought back by the seller.
