I have a Prather 2000 cue that has some kind of burl points. Does anyone know what kind of wood it is? The butt is ebony. And any idea of what it's worth? Thanks.

Thats from Scandinavia, "MasurBirch". Very common in artwork, bowls etc. I have a knife with the handle in it and I recently sold away one of my Queperfect cues, a merry widow with solid Masur in it. I bought the piece here and shipped it to him.

I am guessing "amboyna".
As to value should be worth at least 800 but it is only worth what you can get for it.

Masur Birch. The squiggly line are caused by bugs.

"Also called Alpine Burl or Karelian Burl after the Finnish province of Karelia where it is often found. The high figure found in this wood is caused when the tree heals the damage done by an invasive boring beetle. The beetle infestation leaves the trees stunted and sometimes deformed but produces wood with small twists and swirls that highlight the darker, burly figure. Rare."

I was going to guess it might be that very exotic wood from East Africa called............wfi................"Zanzibar Spermwood".
All kidding aside, it's a truly unique & eye catching wood........the wood has a really handsome golden tone in the photos.
