hi all.

please dont anyone ask me to "search the forum". it you want to reply great. if you feel like i should "search the forum", then pls just dont reply.

there thats out of the way. here's my deal:

i have a 9 foot kasson table in my basement pool room. i have mali cloth currently which i had put on when i bought the table. pple who come over say it plays slow. it has always moved a bit and seems to be getting worse lately. its about a year and half old. i'm thinking of getting new cloth. i am a league player, probably a d+/c-. my table gets used almost daily. looking for some pros/cons and maybe to benefit from some fellow az'ers experience.

thanks

Simonis 860 Tour Blue...problem solved.

Glen

brunswick green Centenial cloth. It's pretty damn fast though, I think it is much faster than simonis and you can spill a beer on it and it beads up without leaving a mark.

Simmonis

Get Simmonis 860, it plays great and it is nice and fast. Or you can put Simmonis 760 if you want it faster.

Check out Simmonis website if you want to check it out.

To me it is the best cloth on the market.

Table cloth

I like Simonis 860 and the new blue color is nice. I don't see how you can go wrong with Simonis on your table.

Simonis 860, traditional green here. If fact, Jack Shurtz re-clothed my table just a few weeks ago and did a fine job, but then again, he's been doing it for nearly 40 years.

I like Championship Tour Edition cheaper than simonis just as fast and plays just as good and unless you play on another color other than tournament green often I would stick with green on your home table.

I've long been a Simonis 860 fan and its what I put on my table, but Ronnie is right that Championship Tour Edition is a great way to save a few bucks without noticeble loss of performance. The local pool halls here use it and I can't tell the difference in play.

try dehumdifier

I would try getting a dehumidifier if the cloth is still in good shape. Mali plays fairly quick but I would bet you have extra moisture with the table in the basement. I had the same problem put on simonis and it also played slow.

Mali is an inexpensive woolen cloth that will play slow (as do most woolens) especially on a 9' table. For more speed And accuracy (and no fuzzies or pilling) you want to move into a worsted cloth such as Simonis 860, 3030 Tour Edition or Velocity Pro. 860 is used in many pro tournaments and will be the highest price of the 3 mentioned. All 3 are pretty comparable in speed with the 3030 being a bit faster then the other two but any of them will be considerably faster and much better quality then the Mali. Pricewise the Velocity will be the least expensive of the three.

You really can't go wrong with any of these three: Championship 3030 Tour Edition, Simonis 860, or Gorina Granito Basalt.

The Granita cloth is less expensive, and faster playing (imo), than either of the other two. All are great pool cloths!

To the OP...the dehumidifier is necessary. Humidity kills the cloth speed, and basements are prone to it!
