What really happened at the Mosconi! Tired of the lies!

Germans are known worldwide for their sense of humor...think of how many famous German comedians there are, after all.

It's a little known fact that the Treaty of Versailles ending WWI restricted the construction of improvisational comedy clubs in Germany. Not only did this cause tension in the German people, but the resulting unemployment fueled the rise of national socialism.

True fact.

In an ironic twist, Hogan's Heroes is the funniest show ever. And no, Sergeant Schultz is not a relative of mine.

It's a reference to the recent Miss Universe pageant in which the master of ceremonies, Steve Harvey ( the guy in the picture), announced the wrong winner and had to correct himself. You should get out more often.

Ah, finally! Thank you very much. Still rating low on my funny scale, because constructed and the whole premise is boring as human errors happen

Why would I watch Ms Universe aka a very weak version of softcore porn with even more ridiculous lines and bad climaxes ? (see, that was funny).

The English and French are pretty funny to me. Except Mr Bean.

Cheers!

My uncle was a German pilot during the war. When he was visiting us I was watching Hogan's Heroes and I thought the TV was going to get smashed to pieces.

After that, whenever uncle Arthur was visiting we did not watch Hogan's Heroes.

Your timing was great for me....I read about the Miss Universe fiasco on my way to work.
.....then I opened the IPad as I was having my first coffee.... :rotflmao1:

"Nobody remembers who comes second."
Well, in the case of Miss Colombis, Ariadna Guiterrez-Arevalo, this might not be true.
Some experts think she might gain more fame than the winner because of Harvey's faux pas.

In the case of the guy from Maine, he better keep practicing....the game of pool lowers the
axe real quick...pool is instant karma.

Well, in the case of Miss Columbia, Ariadna Guiterrez-Arevalo, this might not be true.

fixed that for ya -
- and yet, you got "faux pas" right?
;)

I'm pleading 'auto correct'.....not a big fan of Apple products.

...and I was busy....had to take my dog to the vet....had a cold lately...
....my oldest sister called to tell me I was adopted....

....yeah, that's the ticket

What I recall is that

a) Team USA won
b) American fans out-cheered and out-sang the fans of Team Europe.
c) The difference was the excellent defense and kicking of Team USA.
d) In post-Mosconi ceremonies, Europe conceded that American pool had passed the level of Europe.

Yeah, that's how it went down.

Heard it was really a cover for a secret flat earther convention. Also heard they were meeting right in front of the camera too. It was genius, hiding right in plain sight...just behind Mike Dechaine's head!

Very funny-not!

I might be the victim of a cultural thing but I get the distinct impression that many AZ Posters believe that the forum is designed as a sounding board from which they will be propelled to national comedy stars.
Almost every thread eventually crashes and burns at the hands (or the lips) of some deluded soul whose real funny is about as rare as Rocking Horse Shit.

you're looking for a gig, arentcha?

and not to be the cynical wet blanketeer, but if anyone thinks this Steve Harvey gaff was unintentional and a genuine mistake, I have a bridge I'd love to lease you.

People, it was a publicity stunt.

#itworked

best,

We were talking at the pool hall yesterday about who was actually more beautiful....
...Miss Colombia or Miss Philippines.

I said that I would crawl over twenty miles of broken glass just to hold the hand....
....of the woman who came last in that contest

And the cartels say Harvey is dead meat

Oh you,
you're downplaying the enormity what happened AFTER the Team Europe win!

The bringing together of both teams, the fans and the industry!
They sang TOGETHER- they drank TOGETHER- they laughed TOGETHER!

This for me, was a process that I was happy to bear witness to, share in (and capture)
It was an aspect of pool that had to be felt.
I refrained from speaking of this in my original post, but you were there and you know that of which I speak firsthand.

Happy Christmas SJM!

You must have been at the other Mosconi Cup

EDIT: Missed the irony hahahaha

USA sang emphatically-
but the Europeans got it down to a science.

Europeans sang regardless and there's a rarely a time of year that I don't catch myself singing Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na Nicky Van den Berg.

Burned in brain, mission accomplished.
