I've been seeing a ton of 1x2 cue cases on the forum, some FS and some in pictures of cue case collections. It made me wonder which are the most common cue cases, 1x2, 2x4, 3x6?

James

2X4 is my favorite, most of my cues have two shafts, or three in one case (no pun intended!).

I have three cases, 2x4, 3x6, and 4x8. The 1x2's don't work for me since I use a break cue.....and they certainly won't work for me without pockets.

I believe 2x4 is most popular...imo

It depends on what you play, if it is one pocket or 14.1 then a 1 by 2 should be adequate. If your a 9 baller or play all the games then get a 2 by 4. ;)

I have a 2x4 with a jump cue pouch on the side. Think its made by Elite. It was cheap and serves its purpose.

We have the same opinion on cue cases. A 1x2 is out of the question for me with all of the extra stuff I carry plus a J/B cue.

4x8 case

I'm not positive, but isn't there a BCA rule about only bringing 3 cues to the table? Why would you use a 4x8 case?

maybe they have a CASE QUEEN - you know the cue you show off to everyone, but NEVER play with...?

2x4 is plenty for playing - pick which cue you want to play with (since most on here have more than one to PLAY with), have a couple shafts for it, break cue with one shaft and still room for a jump shaft (and butt if you have a pocket for one).

I carry a 2x4, but not even convinced I NEED that. I think I could get away with a 1x2 if it had a pocket for a jump butt.

I carry a butt & 2 shafts in an old Fellini. I break, jump, and play with one cue.

Porper 2 x 4, a bit worse for wear, Whitten 2 x 4, and the Fellini that I carried for years before everybody got into using break/break/jump cues.

I have a 3X7 My main player has two shafts my back up has two shaft and my break cue has two shafts and for the last shaft slot im thinking about putting the shaft for a stand alone jump cue.

Kinda depends for me...either way, I break with what I am playing with. Switched to a harder, single layered tip, so no worries there...LoL!

Generally, when I am playing a league match, I will carry my 2x4/3x4, simply because, well, just never know. Also, since no one ever has a maintenance tool of their own, I usually maintain the team's cues, with regards to their immediate needs.

For just 'shits-n-giggles' play or even tournaments, I am perfectly happy to carry one cue and and my 1x2 case. Since MY needs are pretty simple while playing, I have a Crown Royal bag that carries some extra chalk and quarters and a tip shaper that I can throw into my purse.

Considering that the bulk of the players on the planet are still the 'newbie' players, that and league...I would venture a guess that actually the 1x1 is the most sold case config, closely followed by the 2x2. Think about it...they wouldn't still be making these if these were not popular.

As to many of those folks here at AZ...especially those who have been here a while...I am bettin' that the 1x2 is still extremely popular...lotsa folks who collect higher end cues have a special case for each cue. I would say that that is closely followed by the 2x4 config...partially because of the advent of the j/b cues' popularity, or...some just like to carry a 2nd cue, because, you just never know.

From the 2x4, I am gonna guess the next most popular config is the 4x8...followed closely by the 3x6. This is the point where the cue addiction has set in, but is still fairly fresh...compelling one to carry all their nice cues together, partly to play with...some to showoff...LoL! Gotta tell ya...I cannot see me ever getting to this point, simply because I am just not all about the weight of the loaded cases at this point...not to mention, there is simply too much on the line in the advent of a theft. This would suck in a big, big way.

I will tell you this...I look more at the player who arrives with a 1x2 case. It takes a certain amount of confidence to show up with just one cue to carry you throughout a match or tournament. Not only confidence in one's playing ability, but confidence in one's cue, as well.

i love my 3X7 But here in Iraq I have a soft case 2x4 everytime we go on missions i bring my cue in case we stop at other bases with Pool tables. I guess im what you can call a combat zone road player. I get to play about 4 hours once a week every friday if im lucky.

A 2X4 does not fit my needs my Player has three shafts and i was down to my last shaft with a decent tip untill i went on R&R my main player and back up cue do not share the same thread pattern so the shafts are not interchangeable. In Alaska there is only one person i know what will work with ivory with in a 200 mile radius it pays for me to carry extra shafts becuse when i play about 30 hours a week when im living a normal life i can ruin three tips in a week. There have sevrel times where all three of my shafts have been out on repairs and had to use my back up cue.

I dont carry a 3X7 to show off my cue like a dog and puppy show My cue has seen combat and made it thru a two I.E.D. blasts my cue is combat proven which is more to say that most cues out there. Carryin a 1X2 a 2X4 etc has nothing to do with confidence it does not take confidence to walk in a tourny or match with a certain case if an I.E.D blast did not stop my confidence to play pool one day a person with a 1x2 never will.

So i have to disagree when you say it takes a certain confidence for a person to walk into a match or tourny with just one cue all that is personal choice

Right now I have a 3X6, but I am really looking hard for a Fellini style 1X2.

I actually have 4 Fellini cases...

They are good cases and seem to follow me around on the weekends.I won't let them leave my sight :)
