My hope is both Skip Weston and Andy Gilbert. Skip does some truly awesome work! I've been spoiled by his hardwood "veneers" and outstanding point work. He also does some of the cleanest inlay work I've ever seen. Andy Gilbert does great work too, but, in my opinion, his point and inlay work isn't quite on the same level as Skip's yet. Of course I think they both play great...lol.

I'd like to get me a Gilbert player to go along with my J/B but I'm not buying anymore cues...lol. We've got a couple of us together for a support group if anyone else cares to join. :D :p  :p :D

Well with Skip a few years ago he tried to go full time but circumstances beyond his control required he go back to the grind for benefits. So his production is way down to 20-30 cues / year. This is one reason that I haven't been bothering him for cues. In a time where even the most classically trained cue makers are converting to cnc and living with tiny radii, Skip is going back to ultra sharp inlays.

You not buying anymore cues?? Yeah, and there will be no more suicide bombings in Iraq...

There's hope isn't there?! :D I'm actually just going to not buy any more cues in the next year or so...lol. Then again, I've got to figure out what to do with that 2% raise I just got! :(

Thanks for the info on Skip. I thought I'd heard you mention that he had considerably scaled down his production.

Incredibly nice quality. Love his shaft taper and shaftwood. I liked the way the few I've tried played. His silver into ebony cues are so beautiful. Have you seen Oscar's new one?

Martin

Ed Pruitt -

Yes, Oscar beat me with it! He's getting really good like his dad.

Oscar's cue is beautiful and he also has another one for sale - it blew me away - one of the finest classic style cues I've ever seen. Perfect really. I wish I knew more about Ed Pruitt.

I think brent hartman from cincy is a great cue maker probably be number 1 in the next 10 years. He is the next scruggs, black, espiritu, you name it he will better than them all.

ps brent can I get a discount on a cue now??? jeeeeeezzz.

But serious great work! He is completely anal a trait all great cue makers have!! :D

Luke Get Real!

Luke, Thanks For The High Five , But Hell I'm Far From A Cuemaker. I'm Just Messing Around With Trying To Make Sneakys And Conversions From Unusable Cues. I Don't Know How To Do Inlays Nor Do I Have Any Of The Equipment I Really Need Or The Money To Buy It. AND MOST OF ALL, I DON'T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE. I'm Trying To Do All This Stuff On A Unique Products Cue Companion. Really Only Designed For The Repairs I Do.
I'd Really Like To Be A "cuemaker" Someday Though. Sherm And Dickie , Both From My Area Are "real Cuemakers". And They Both Do Really Nice Work Too.
Who Knows, Maybe Someday, I Can Hook Up With Someone As An Aprrentice Or Sidekick. That Would Be Too Cool.
But, Hey Luke , I Appreciate Your Confidence.
Now All The Cuemakers Out There Can Get Up Off The Floor From Laughing So Hard.

Is Ed Pruitt very well known? He does some gorgeous work.

Chris
Eddie Prewitt's cues are already skyrocketing in price.
He makes drop-dead gorgeous cues.
He's also a master machinist and makes cuemaking machines when he has time. Problem is, he has no time.
His no points cues sell up to $2000.

Thanks for the spelling correction. No wonder I couldn't find him. I agree, beautiful work.

So now I wonder who Cue will Lucky be selling in 10 year, of the New, Upcoming, or Just Not Famous Cuemaker today.

BCM, Ted Harris, Skip Weston, Jack Madden, Murray Tucker, Jim Buss, or ?

I am still wondering, or hoping to predict the Future of who will be in Vogue in 10 YEARS. Plus be the most in demand Cuemakers. Buy Players, and Collectors.... :D

Art Cantando.

Anyone care to guess 10 year from now what Unknown, or Little Know Custom Cuemakers Cues will have Appreciated the Most, be the Most in Demand, or be the Cue people will be saying. I wish had had bought one of those when they were only_ _ _ _, and now there is a -_ _ Year wait to get one, and the price is Sky High.

I am talking about Beauty, Art, Hit, and all the Qualities that make a GREAT CUE....

;)

Bruce, I have to say Skip Weston. His point/veneer work is just incredible! I've played with just about all the big guns cues and his play as good or better than anyones. Admittedly, I tend to lean toward "old school" players style cues which I think he executes better than anyone. Try getting a classic four point with four veneers from Stroud or Schick and see what kind of response you get! Also he is a great guy to deal with. Didn't know until I read Joes post that he had gone back to a regular job and that his production was so low. Anyone know if he's going to be in the 3rd edition of the Blue Book (if it ever gets published!)?

Pricy Plane Janes... Think I would rather have a McWorter for 2K if i had 2K :D
I'd get a Prewitt.
They hold their value better and is more famous for their hit.
