Back in 1990 I had a Joss cue that was my main player and I decided I needed a break cue. So this guy in my area was selling these sneakies at $150 a pop. I bought one to use as my break cue. I started breaking with it and then one day I was to lazy to pull my Joss cue out so I played with my sneaky. I though "DAMN" this plays a lot better then my Joss!!! This sneaky I bought to be my break cue was a Scruggs. I found the Scrugg's shop phone number and had Tim send me a catalog. When I got the catalog I looked and looked and drooled over these Scruggs cues. I decided to go with a plain 4 point ebony cue. So my first true custom I order was a Scruggs.

1973 A. E. Schmidt Cue for $105. It was made with a full-splice Titlist blank. If you want to consider that a "production" conversion, then I guess my first cue to be "made to order" was a 1978 Richard Black 4-Point cue for $175.

I wish like hell I could buy those kinds of cues for $175 now. Same cue goes for about $2000 now.

The 1st truly custom cue I had , I made myself . And had it stolen , made a copy and I still shoot with that cue . JIm

I just ordered a Joel Dadivas custom and I couldn't be happier, although I have only been playing for a short amount of time, I am glad I got something I love early on to enjoy the game.

LOL. My Scruggs cost me $500 at the time with 2 shafts. I had to sell it back in 2000. I was going thru a divorce at the time and needed the cash, but the cue did sell for more then what I paid for it.

Just bought mine. Paid $225 for it shipped to me from a fellow azber. A Cameron Watthy and it is great. He's in mo and I'll be watching him.

Oh and I've got a Joss and Pechauer for sale in the for sale threads

First 2 piece cue was $9.00 Sears cue, 1969. First custom was Joss West 1977, 4 point ebony with 4 veneers, steel joint linen wrap, under $200.00.

My first custom cue was/is a Domino Titleist Gina. Bought it from Ernie in the early 60's and still have it.

First true "custom" was a Joss West followed shortly there after by the Meucci Bob built for me.

My first custom cue was an Adams Steve Mizerak BEM merry widow model. I was in high school at the time, and I sold off half of comic book collection to put the money together to buy the cue from my local pool room. I paid $85 for the cue. There was a McDermott C-20 cue model among the available cues for sale at the time, but I could not afford to buy it then. I played that Adams cue through my first year in college until I bought my Schon cue, an SP #15 for $300. I still have that Adams cue, I still have my Schon cue, and I still dream of getting that McDermott C-20 cue. I guess you could say it's my Rosebud.

1st custom cue

My first custom cue was Richard Black a Black Baron model. I paid 495.00

50+ yrs & never had one, I'll let you know when I get one. Buying someone's by a custom maker does not make it a true custom. Buying one off the shelf from a custom maker is not a true custom. Its been hashed before but a true custom is made to your specs.

I have two that are close but the butt size and taper are not exactly to my liking. I may order one, one day before I expire. Money is not the issue but the waiting list is!

I dunno...is an early Palmer a custom? It might be, because it has my name under the window. Anyway, I thought it was at the time. I paid $125 for it as seen in the pics. Case included in the price.

then followed the first *custom made* was done by the great Mister Prather in co-production with Hans-Jörg Bertram, when Prather visited germany with his son :)

1st-Scrugg's
2nd-Richard Black
The last cue I'll ever have--Omen 6pt Ebony/coco-bola.With Predator 314 small cats

I'll never get another that plays like this Omen,so this is the one for life.I almost sold it not to long ago, because I didn't play for 5 years! But now I'm back

Zylr sneaky from a dufferin blank. It was the best hitting cue I couldn't play with. It was back when I didn't know what I wanted in a pool cue. It was a crisp and very solid hit. Struck through the ball incredibly well. But the butt and shaft taper was too thick and it was too butt heavy for my liking. It is probably still located in Singapore now.
