It's One Pocket.

Each player needs this last ball for the win. You are left shooting this ball that sits in the upper jaw of your opponent's hole. (I really tried to place this ball accurately, but wei and life are sometimes like a box of aramiths ;))

CueTable Help

Is this a trick question?

I'd just make it and scratch using top left. If you think that's not possible for some reason, make it and jump the cueball off the table for the scratch.

My opponent had this and didn't think the make/follow scratch was 'on'. So he tried to make the OB and jump the CB off the table. However, the CB danced on top of the rail, even getting onto the GCIII faux wood, before gently returning to the playing surface. I was like "wtf" was that?

As a relative 1 pock newb, I thought this was a pretty ingenious shot selection. I guess (based on Alex's "Is this a trick question") it's only unique until you know the shot. I'm learnin... And gainin on ya'll so :p!

still a foul. if the CB touches the wood it's a foul

You know too much, Alex. I want a ball the next time we play :-)

this woody wasn't foul

Unless the rules changed in the past few years, in pool its not a foul if the balls touch the wood of the rail, but then return to the playing surface. In snooker that is a foul.

My opponent conceded after the woody dance. He's been around the game a lonnng time. Obviously he didnt believe it was a foul.

From: http://www.onepocket.org/one_pocket_pool_rules.htm

6.5 Driving either the cue ball or an object ball off the table is a foul, whenever either comes to rest off the playing surface, or comes in contact with anything other than the table itself while airborne.

This was not a foul based on this rule.

maybe bank off the tip if the ball was a little bit further away from the pocket?
this was the only video i could find, similar to your layout, by no other than reyes

That was a great shot! I don't know - pertaining to my diagrammed shot - if anything resembling this could be done without the CB scratching, but Efren's shot here is one I need to put in the arsenal. His opponent was snickering like "How did I draw THIS dude?!".

BTW, Welcome to the forum Fird!

CueTable Help

if you are playing one pocket and you both need that ball, if you make it in your oppenants pocket , he wins regardless of scratch. i think thats right

Ok, I'm real new at 1 pocket (played like 10 games) but the guy I play with says that if you pocket a ball in the opponents pocket, the oponent keeps that ball. So in this shot here, if you pocketed the ball, wouldn't you lose anyway?? Please set me straight on this one.Thanks.

Oh contraire mon frere:

http://www.onepocket.org/one_pocket_pool_rules.htm

6.2 Any scratch or foul results in the end of the shooter’s inning, as well as a standard one ball penalty. All balls pocketed in the shooter’s pocket as a result of a stroke that includes a foul do not count for the shooting player and are to be immediately spotted, along with the standard one ball penalty. Also, any balls pocketed in the opponent’s pocket on a stroke that ends in either a pocket scratch or with the cue ball off the table are not to be counted for the opponent, and are to be immediately spotted. However, on a stroke when any other foul is committed (such as a push shot, double-hit or illegal ball contact), any balls scored into the opponent’s pocket are to stay down and be counted for the opponent.
