Whats a good begginer cue?

Several of these are good suggestions. Another is a Nick Varner cue, a good solid cue for the money.

GrayGhost

I knock the K mart $ 29.95 cue but know of a few people who use and like them. But the point is that any of the low priced sticks under a buck will do well. Don't let "keeping up with the Jones" get you.

well said, just like when ball players look at their bat when they miss as if it was crooked or had a hole in it or something. I know beginning players with lots of spending cash that went out an bought a 3k dollar cue b/c they seen someone who played really good using a Joss West so they got one to. They are beginners so they are obviously not good, and end up trying to cast blame on the cue which they thought would be the ticket to the top in the first place.

They see you run out on them with some sapling you grabbed off the side of the highway and they dam near want to snap that pretty cue in half. It's like anything else you gotta earn good equipment, same as you don't buy your 16 year old son a ferrari if your rich. Boy would kill himself cuz he aint earned that car much less knew how to drive the dang thing. As you advance your game advance the cue you own when you feel its time, when you find your game your going to find the right cue wether it be expensive or cheap, but you will know exactly what you want because you know your game.

I'll 3rd the recommendation of a McDermott. They are great playing cues and they stand behind them very well.

I went cue shopping with a friend, and after trying multiple cues around $100 we both really liked a Kaiser, and he has been very happy with it.

Cuetec. A beginner deserves a beginner cue. :yeah:

the newest product from cuetec is the r360. this is what i refer to only !

it is nothing like the coated thing they had for a long time. so if YOU have

not tried one it is more than just a cue for a beginner. some very good pro's use them now!

Everyone has mentioned all the usual suspects, and even some I didn't think of.

Another idea would be to support your local cuemaker and get a sneaky pete from him.

I think a good sneaky pete cue would be perfect to use as a beginner cue. Don't spend too much at first until you see if the interest is there and the desire to put the time and money into better equipment.

Thanks for the replies all. Really helps me narrow my focus as I will need to pick up a few cues for the pool room I am putting together.

Personally I like Joss cues, and if you pay attention you can get a nice one under 200 used. They used to have some new for 200, don't know if they do or not anymore.

Lucasi's play pretty good too. More bling the adams GB series plays pretty well.

Rat cues from Muellers would be my personal second choice behind a joss, actually would be my first choice now. Ryan posts here as Rat Cues I believe.

a used joss would be a great starter cue. they play real solid especially for the price.

if you think LD cue would be a good starter cue you could go with a used mezz. i've seen a mezz or two sell on here for under 300
