2014 is shaping up to ' WHATS THE NEXT BIG THING ' in every industry - what is the next big thing in the billiard industry ?

Valid question. IMO, 2014 has in store:

- fewer "big name tourneys"

- more exhibitions, clinics and tours

- reality shows hopefully coming to fruition

- more junior and college programs

- more action matches with backers

- tons of streaming

- some pro semi-retirement

- a handful of entities evaluating if, how & when to pull a big pro trigger (it's just a matter of time)

- an emphasis on conduct

and invitationals based on who's "in" and who's "out" as the flavor of the year...

it will be interesting to see how this year plays out! My fingers are crossed for the best - for all in our tiny corner.

Low deflection chalk
one tip being proclaimed the best
An LD shaft that lets everyone play like Shane
A miracle that slows down the death of big table pool
Cuesblues sells all his collectible cues and invests in Lucasi cues

Predictions

1. More smaller field elite pro invitational tournaments with a defacto code of conduct (if you don't conduct yourself the way the organizer wants you'll be left out in the cold)
2. Even less 9 ball being played in favor of more 10 ball and maybe the emergence of full rack rotation.
3. More 10 ft table events
4. More play on tables with less than 4.5" pockets
5. The breakthrough of Jayson Shaw on the pro scene meaning that he wins one or more notable events.
6. Shane breaks through and wins and international overseas event

Ok so I realized my last post was more about the pro game than the industry or pool in general so I have a couple of follow ups.

1. Pool podcasts really taking hold. It started with TAR now ABR is on the scene as well. Each has a different format, and if they can get placed on iTunes or Stitcher so you can stream them or download them to your ipod or android device they will be more accessible

2. The improvement of streaming and the improvement of its accessibility. More smart tvs and devices like Chromecast are going to make it easier than ever to access pool content.

3. Better social media outreach in the pool world. More pro players getting twitter accounts and tweeting and interacting with fans. More pool players in general posting and sharing stuff about pool on twitter and facebook to promote the game.

my live stream wish for 2014

Announcers who have enough sense to realize that if they can't add anything to the match, they should just shut up instead of blabbering on with unintelligible gibberish for 3 hours. It's annoying as hell.
