What's the best shaft?

Ld

all 3 are pretty good, I think they play better on a butt from the same maker. better balance.
but it's very subjective.

Ob? Predator? Tiger? And why I'm looking too just buy a shaft for my custom what's ur view? What's the best feel ect?

In no particular order.
Mike Bender 12mm tip ivory ferrule stiff taper.
Ray Schuler American Taper 12 mm tip
Black Boar ferruless shaft.
Jim Buss cutom shaft.

...no kidding! The best beer is the one you're drinking, while eating the pizza you like best, while watching the tv you like best! IMO the best beer is the coldest one! LOL

Pred 1st gen

I'm a big fan of the 1st generation 314's.
they play almost like a solid maple shaft, hit great, and have fairly low deflection.
Here's what it seems to me...the lower the deflection, the more dead feel you get, since its lighter at the end. The 314 to me has low enough deflection to control with accuracy, and lively enough to feel.
I think that going. From a solid maple shaft to a 314-2 would put someone into shock!!!

This. I actually went from a 314 to a 314-2 and hated it. I still play with an original 314 Predator sneaky.

I have a dozen LD shafts and the only one I can play with is the 1st gen predator. It has much mor squirt and I swear it increased over the years which tells me something...

Freddie <~~~ needs an ultra speed camera

Mezz HP2, very low deflection and pretty stiff

This one wasn't a choice but it's the one I like best. Have tried original 314 and the OB1. Haven't tried the OB classics. Mezz HP2 just suits me, I like a shaft that feels more like a traditional one.

Ok so I think I picked either a OB sneaky cue or a predator sneaky what one?

I know it's my opinion but from experience with both ob and predator I'd go with the OB classic.

I also thought that the SPTX shaft by Gulyassy is an excellent choice. Hit's better than any straight maple shaft I've ever played with by far.

Agreed. Back when I was drinking beer I preferred that it be about as cold as my first wife. That would be about 38 degrees. You could catch pneumonia sitting next to that woman. :)

I have an ob, a 314, a newer 314, a Z and a Z2 and I did have 12 different SW cues. I have an Ed Young, a Samsara, several Starkeys, a couple w/no ferrule, and several Sailor cues and shafts. I like the z2 and the Starkey w/no ferrule. Very little squirt.

I have been playing with a 314-2 for quite some time. I picked up a friends Jacoby Edge shaft, and I thought it felt very nice. I am really thinking of making the switch to it. I am suprised it hadent come up yet.

is a subjective question, and will have subjective answers depending on the experience each poster has with certain shafts. You will not get one perfect answer, just guesses.

I agree man..I think that goes with any thing pool related.
I like shooting with a 12mm tip..14" taper..hard tip..give a shaft
of any kind..and I think I'll feel okay shooting with it..much larger
an it seems like I'm stroking a broom..

Guido Orlandi is doing his research on building a Carbon-Graphite cored, special tapered "Old Growth shaft" as I type this message. It has lots of promise.
