Whats the Luckiest (slop) shot you've ever seen....Good or Bad

Last year or so I was playing in the weekly 9 ball tournament at "Felts".
So I beat a few players and I have to play Chuck who plays a bit better then me. So we finally wind up hill hill.Chuck is running out and he misses an easy 6 ball and the six comes off the cushion and hits the 9 up table. So I see the 6 thru 8 sitting in perfect run out position and I think I got this. So this all happens at warp speed in my mind.As luck would have it the 9 travels up table to the corner pocket and hangs there for a second and drops.Presents a good case for calling the 9.

... btw-referring to the last paragraph of the article-are you the original Majic Rack originator? or had this template concept been around much before 2001?

as always-good stuff.
I think I first did templates for racking before 1995 and maybe by 1990. I have no connection with any commercial racking device. I learned very early in the process that you had to adjust the spacing of the holes to match the diameters of the balls. The first template I made was 57mm spacing but I immediately went down to 56 and 55 to accommodate worn balls.

I played a game one time, where my opponent played safe on me. It was an 8ball game. the cue ball was somewhere near the side pocket, the eight ball was sitting about an inch away from the opposite side long rail about a diamond away from the side pocket. and his ball was blocking me from hitting it direct. I was gonna masse the cue ball around the blocking ball and cut the 8 in the corner, so I called the pocket.
I massed the cue ball, curved it way too much , hit my call causing it to bank and go into the pocket i called! lol Everyone thought that was the shot how I planned and after that shot no one wanted to play me that night LOL

The worst unlucky roll I ever got went like this: I was playing BCA 8-ball against a woman I was easily two balls better than. Several times after her misses, she somehow managed to leave me with nothing but a kick-shot. So eventually we're both on the 8-ball. It's her shot and she misses it, rattling the corner pocket leaving the 8-ball hanging by a thread smack-dab in the middle of the pocket with the cueball heading on a beeline towards the opposite corner pocket on the short rail. I'm elated, thinking this should have been my game to win anyway, except for her incredible luck. But my elation soon turned to anguish, for when the cueball had stopped rolling, it bounced off of the points and rested on the inside facing of that corner pocket leaving me pocket-hooked. 8-ball hanging in one corner, cueball pocket-hooked in the opposite corner. Only two balls on the table. Geez!!! I couldn't believe the incredible luck she had during that one game, more than most will get in a whole night of shooting.

Yeah, I kicked to the opposite short rail, made the 8, but hit it just a hair to firmly and scratched, the cueball following the 8 right into the pocket.

I cannot get that one game completely out of my mind, even after three years. Probably because she acted so damn proud of getting that win :frown:!!!

I was playing a tournie this past weekend in Quebec, the tornie was held outdoors.

A guy hits the 7 up the rail it hits the diamond past the side pocket comes out 4 inches and then curves back into the pocket due to table rolling off. The next rack i played the 8,9 combo along the rail it then came off the rail 2 inches leaving him straight in. I then said we are switching tables.

This is my kind of thread ;)

Juneau AK, '96, at the Lucky Lady bar on Franklin St.

It was my third up to the table, not playing for money, too many beers in my belly (Raindog:eek:), the pic says it all.

Last thing I hear after calling this shot was .......oh come on!
Give me a thousand shots at this again in that condition/state and the chances are still slim:p
