Got paid 4 months later //// still waiting (holding my breath)

Old man told me there are only two types of players you make post.........................
The guy you're playing now and the guy you're playing next.

Wish I took the advice!!!

The most I've ever been aired was in a golf match in Ashboro, NC. This clown named Derek Leonard, aka. Chew Tobacco, and his partner left the golf course owing Shannon Daulton, Mike Coltrain, and myself $1450 each.

The only other time I've been aired was in downtown Athens one night. We were all downtown drinking and I was playing this old black guy for $10 a game in bar box 8 ball. I won the first game and he paid and then I won the second game and he didn't have any more money. I grabbed his old beaten up work hat off his head and said I'd take that for payment. We were asked to leave the bar we were in along with the guy that didnt pay his loss. I threw the hat in the street when we got outside the bar.

Danny Petralba- $1800
Billiard Connection, Northridge Ca.- 1997-ish

Said he was being staked by Waterboy Steve who supposedly said to stop at $300, Steve left and didn't come back till the next day when a big argument ensued. Got enough out of them to pay the table time (about 10 hours) which came out to a little less than $150 that night, so I just chalked it up to a learning experience about two people.

I beat a guy out of $5500 in Atlanta. We started off at $100 a set and paying off after every set. By the end, we were playing for $1000 a set and the $100 bills had turned into $5s, $10s and $20s...When it was all over I won $5500 and got aired for $350 of it. But, I really couldnt complain.

A long time ago a played a teammate for $50 a game after a pool league
banquet. At bar time he owed me $300. He didn't want to quit, so we
went to another teammates house and ended up playing $200 a game.

$3000 later he wanted to settle by giving me a car. Knowing that he
shouldn't have been playing me in the first place, I agreed. Alcohol
probably had some affect on that decision. Anyhow, I got the car
but could only sell it for $1100. In the end, it was still a good score!

I only see the guy once in a while. Of course in the back of my mind
I wonder if I could ever get him to go off again?

I've been aired for ~$900 twice, same guy. The first time I collected it all, but it took around four months. I got $400 of it the next time, and he chose to quit playing pool rather than run into me, I guess.

Another guy aired me for $300 a year or two ago. He called me, drunk, the other day and said he wanted to pay up. I think he changed his mind when he sobered up...

I've been aired by two millionaires...

Once for $600 from a guy who supposedly was a millionaire. He was involved somehow in an explosion at BP oil refinery in Texas City. Turns out he hadn't got the settlement before we played. Last I heard he was in jail for pulling out a gun in a bar and still had not got the settlement. Funny thing about it... at the time I played him I was doing all of the IT support for the project to revamp the site of the explosion the guy was involved in.

And I played Fatboy at the last BCA Nationals and he aired me for dinner. I hope he heard me mutter under my breath that the debt doubled weekly.

Oh, I just love telling this one.

I am at a big tourney, here in Raleigh, around 90-91. There is a Research Trialngle Exec that would normally play $5 dollar pool with me. The guy plays pretty well, also. I'll call him Bill (by the way, this just MIGHT be his real name). We decide to get off to the side of the action and play some $20 dollar sets. Well, this escalates. And he ain't likin' it.

As we get to $100, he tells me that I'm not a complete player and I need to play all games, not just nineball. "Just because you don't see me play other games, doesn't mean I can't. I just prefer not to, thank you." "Well, if you come to my house and play on a real table, you got action playing EVERY game." Well, the guy is probably a millionaire, or close. You should have seen his home. We had always paid after every session. Usually just a hundred or around that, so I kind of got excited about it. I had just graduated from college and was making probably $30 a year. "Let's hit it." We decide that he'd drive us there, and make it back for my match with another fella from Fayetteville around midnight. It's around 7:00.

Well, it's 8:00 the next morning, and he finally says he'll take me back to the poolroom. He's done. Now, I know I may have inflated the amount over the years, but it was somehere in the $3400 range.? Maybe $2400? I don't remember, but it was a lot. Especially for me at that time. I had beaten him at nineball, straight pool, one pocket, and I think he even threw in tiddly winks.

As I get out of the car, and ask about the check he would write as he said, he comes out with, "I thought we were just messing around." He then, pulls the door shut, and speeds off. The pisser of it is this. I missed action at midnight with a true "go-off."

About four or five years pass. He comes into the poolroom during a big tourney. A guy is booking the matches. Bill actually comes up and wants to chat like nothing ever happened. He then asked me to put down a bet for him, since the guy didn't know him. Un fu#$ing real. I couldn't get fu#$ off out of my mouth fast enough.

The most I was ever air-balled that I can remember was for $10 in a bar. I knocked about six of his teeth loose. A few days later his big brother wanted me to pay his dental bill. I put an icepick though his arm.

That's why I never had too many problems collecting. If they knew of me they also knew I could become a crazy man in a flash. Johnnyt

I caught an air-barrel for $1,400 when I was 17-18 years old. Never did get a quarter!

John Gladstone from NY. I was playing him after a little weekly tourney in Kannapolis. We started out $20 a game 9 ball. He was down a couple hundred when the room closed. The owner wouldn't keep it open for anything. The owner did tell me he was a good score & had lost plenty in there lately and even if he wrote me a check it was good. As we were kicked out into the street John was complaining he wished we could play more. My friend Randy said "Kevin has a table at his home we can play there"...so this guy follows us home. To make a long story shorter...we played all night and until about 2pm the next day...he kept raising the bet. He ended up stuck $7000. He paid us $4000 cash and wrote a check for the other $3000. The check was never any good...I called the bank everyday checking to see if he had made a deposit. I kept checking the automated deal to see if it was even close. If his balance was ever close I was going to deposit $500 or so to make the check good...LOL...it was never close. I ended up running him down about a month later and I let him have the check back for $1000 cash. I figured that was better than nothing. So a $7000 score turned into $5000...still not too shabby though.:)

Anti-focus: When I was 16 or so I played with someone who I thought I should have beat easily and I probably would have......if I had more than a quarter in my pocket. We played for $5/game and I lost the first 5 games, I was almost sick to my stomach and pressured out because I knew I wouldn't be able to pay him if I lost.

Thank goodness we were at a place where some friends were, I was able to borrow the $25 that saved my ass from probably getting beat up. That was the first and only time I aired someone and I didn't even really air them, but the lesson was learned and I never did that shit again.

we were in Biloxi, MS on a gambling trip one time and decided to drive on down to Gulfport to the poolroom there since Bruce B. was with us and maybe get some action. We got there and started banging balls around and a guy comes and asks one of my buddies if he wants to play some.

Well, this buddy of mine plays about my speed, certainly no world beater but we thought we'd gauge this guy in case he wanted to play Bruce some. Justin beats the guy out of $120 and the guy says, "you are way too good, but I wanna play that guy", and points to Bruce.

Besides being an underdog to any of the 4 of us that were there, he points to the only champion within 100 miles of there! Bruce lays it down pretty good, but is up on the guy about $300. He pays Bruce $80 and says hes going to the bathroom. Well, apparently he fell in because we never saw him again, lol.

All in all it was worth the trip to Gulfport. We made a little money and I rode back to the Beau Rivage with a good looking girl. Her eyes were crossed a little but that was her only flaw. Good times.

That's pretty damn funny... "her eyes were a little crossed but she looked like a 10 when she stood on her head". :rotflmao:

My buddies sister was stationed there in the Air Force. We visited a couple summers in a row. We had a lot of fun hitting the clubs, casinos, playing for beer money, and driving over to Bourbon Street. We had a couple late night rides home from the police:wink: Didn't mean to highjack the thread it just brought back some fun memories.

Not the most I've ever been stiffed out of but the strangest. I once got stiffed $50 bucks on a headbut contest. Naturally it led to a fist fight. There are never any winners with that much beer involved.
