What's your shot??

Clip the 8 towards the rail, parallel with the 9, and send the CB towards the left rail (left english to get near the bottom-left pocket) and pray for the best.

OFFENSIVE:

Well, I guess you could draw a line from the 9 to the back of the 8, aim for that point, and follow and pray to make the 9 (assuming the balls are frozen).

Might be able to throw the bank into upper R) pictured pocket. Are the 8/ CB frozen?

Smarter play would be to do a little masse, contacting the 8 enough to send it to the rail where the 9 is and leave cb near upperR) pocket, hope for on the rail, but you are leaving a bank or a safe.

I don't think you like it from there either way!

Assuming they are frozen, I might try to throw the bank two rails and use inside english to try to get whitey near the bottom half of the foot rail. Unless the ball hangs up, you have a good chance of leaving a long, tough bank if you get yer speed close, and if the balls are dirty you might make the one-railer.

They are frozen.
Then point your stick about at the nine ball (or a little fuller on the 8) and use right english. Hit it hard enough to bank the 8 2 rails to the middle of the right end rail. I think that will leave the cue ball near the middle of the other end rail.

A simpler shot is to play the cue ball to the left end rail and try to hide behind the 9, having moved the 8 to near the cushion.

I'm with Bob and Dave on this one. You're in a vulnerable position, so distance and blockage are your only friends.

Taking a flyer on the 9 is too risky and the 8 is likely to sit up like a wedding d*** when you miss.

Of course, Houdini surely got out and it was surely easier than a drunken prom date. Yawn.

You're playing 9 ball. This happened on a barbox, but for this shot, it really doesn't matter what size table. You(me:o) have overrun position on the 8, and got stuck to it. What would you do here?

CueTable Help

I'm banking it.Jack with low right and you should get good position
on the 9 also.
The speed should be 'width and a half ' so you don't lose every
time you miss either.

Neil what about shooting the legal push?

Driving the CB and 8 to the immideate long rail.....the balls would stay pretty close together and the closer you get the pair to the rail the more trouble the opponent will have with any kind of bank he might be able to pull off.

I just don't see any other option that out weighs this one by any amount.....being frozen as typical its very hard to control BOTH BALLS

Normally you just have to control one ball either the CB or the OB

I just set up the shot on my home table and hit it smooth and gentle with oh about a half tip of follow and they left a really crappy shot or a safe for the opponent.

At least at the time being I'd rather get played safe on than not getting the perfect roll on a clip shot like that and leaving a wide open shot

with the way my balls ended up (that sounds funny lmao) when the opponent shoots the ball and sends the CB b/t the pocket and the 9 and comes to rest on the other side.......I'll probably have a one rail kick and with the close proximity to the side the kick and carom of the 8 off the 9 has a good chance of being pocketing "if" you kick good.

I know its not orthadox, but if you hit it just a little better than I did first try then it could jar the hell out of your opponent imop

it would really depend on the status of the match to me and how I felt that particular day as to exactly what I would choose to do.

If I was feeling highly confident and my stroke was smoking hot I would probably do what Bob was saying.

Today I like the legal push.....maybe b/c its not lunch time yet and I'm hungry lol

I don't mind the bank at all either if the layout is really not perpendicular like the drawing shows......just like PT109 said, good speed and you got a nice two way shot right there.
